i could probably say 80% true. Its everywhere.

And nikon does not have any good-selling and popular point and shoot camera right now.

Nikon needs to bring the point and shoot crowd to their DSLR market where they have the upper hand.

Hmmm...probably this is true. This is how the D80 started. Canon is selling their P&S very well. I don't know if Nikon is.

If this is really cheap, the 400D will have a run for its money.

i dont think the 400d is the direct competitor of this camera.

The competitor of this camera are the olympus e400, canon s3is, sony h5, panasonic fz50

Seems your doing your research eh? I saw the Powershot G7 and it really looks like the G series is coming back. The G5 was one of the best of its class. Any feedback on the G7?

A lot of folks are complaining about the lack of RAW in the G7, bulk of Canon discussion in dpreview is on the G7...

G-series has come a long way, yet it still has that classic look and feel to it...

canon has been removing raw which was in its older point and shoot models and has been creating below par powershot G series cameras lately. They are afraid that these features on their high-end point and shoots cameras might cannibalize their entry level dslr sales.

other high end point and shoots have raw but canon does not include it in its high-end point and shoots like s3is and g7.

with nikon d40, canon should start getting back in shape with its high-end, point and shoot cameras, and start returning in serious features they just removed.

Well, there is a saying since time immemorial that "if there is smoke, there is fire".
