After milenyo, with our big trees gone, i noticed these birds have been nesting in our garden, and are getting braver and braver, getting close to my window in our house at about 3 ft na lang so i took some pics of it with my 28-135mm..
Its been scaring away the sparrows in our place and some even pose for me, it has a long beautiful black and white tail that it spreads out like a fan..does any one know what species this is? :)

Hmmm... Isn't this what we call "Tarat"? I'm not sure about this as I havn't seen them up close. They are usually shy birds unlike the "Mayas" which usually get nearer to people.

hey thanks master Romy, it was really close to me so i was able to capture it with a medium zoom...i looked it in your pbase but was not really sure if it was..its not endemic in the philippines as per your database, but the numbers are getting more and more in our garden, sometimes 1 or 2 are perched in our window sill..they look like theyre enjoying themselves..:)

thanks tina,
was surprised how friendly they were, coming so close, maybe at arms length, but i was shooting them behind a screened window thru a hole...i could swear they were even posing for the pic...
i think they were 3 or 4 in the group, yup aggresive enough they were chasing the sparrows that came near them...:) had to stalk them for 3 days though, feeding them rice through the hole until they were comfortable enough to get close..
