View Full Version : Crested Caracara- My First
Reyno Rosete 11-08-2006, 09:18 AM Been in pursuit of this magnificent but elusive feathered friend for the last two months and after five trips to the Viera Wetlands, I finally saw and captured this beauty also known as Mexican Eagle. Reyno Rosete 11-08-2006, 09:56 AM Thanks Gil. The encounter was so brief as I was only able to shoot 4 including a butt in-flight.
Romy Ocon 11-08-2006, 02:19 PM Awesome capture of a very handsome raptor, Reyno!
Love the head turn, low angle, clean BG and amazing detail. Seems you're now an expert in exposing birds with contrasting plumage...:)

Jimmy Rosaria 11-09-2006, 03:43 AM nice shot reyno.. amazing details on eye..
i wonder when you will post those migrating snowbirds :)
zandy_marantal 11-09-2006, 05:09 AM Perfect angle for a perfect shot Reyno!
Looks like a pretty big bird judging from the size of the head.
Thanks for sharing.
Reyno Rosete 11-09-2006, 09:10 AM Thanks Jimmy and Zandy. Your comments are highly appreciated.
Jimmy: The snowbirds are rather late to comeby. I guess they're still enjoying the early snow fall up north. But they should be here pretty soon.
Zandy: The head looks like big but it's actually a kindda wig if you will. It's smaller than a Bald Eagle but larger than a Red Shouldered Hawk. I'd say just about the same size as an Osprey.
caloy_samson 11-09-2006, 09:57 AM Majestic pose...outstanding, Reyno. The colors just pops out and the bokeh enhances the bull's eye effect on the eagle.
ps - wish I can do some birding shots in my spare time but the sea always beckons. More please, Reyno:)

Doy Tan 11-09-2006, 12:57 PM Great shot!!!! How long did you have to wait to for that one?
Reyno Rosete 11-09-2006, 11:38 PM Thanks Caloy & Doy for the looks and comments.
Caloy: Wish I can do the same as well but maybe one of these days I'll venture into UW as there are lots of opportunities in my neck of the woods. It all depends if the the aging physique can sustain the requried physical training.
Doy: Been chasing the Caracara for over two months and I wasn't even thinking about it the last time I was @ the wetlands but luck came sooner rather than later. I was about to call it quits after a long day and there it was by the side of the berm. I didn't waste any time at all.
Jimmy: Good for you.
caloy_samson 11-10-2006, 08:35 AM Thanks Caloy & Doy for the looks and comments.
