Good Afternoon Fellow DPP Members,

I'm new to digital photography and I would like to clarify some things about filters and their corresponding functions. For example I bought UV filters for my Nikkor lenses 18-55mm, 50mm & 60mm (it was the recommended filters, all-around). I also have a CPL filter for my Nikkor 55-200mm. What I wanted to know, are there any references available regarding the other types of filters and what they do specifically in simple explanations. I'm planning to try out some of them as the need arises or just to give it a try.:)

The reason why I started this thread is that I'm planning to explore the other types of filters. I've heard of IR and ND filters but I really don't have a good definition of what it would be for or what they can do and what else would be available. I've seen in the forum some shots taken using IR but I haven't seen anybody posting pictures and indicating what filters they used in taking the shots.
