View Full Version : What lens should i get rid off Olympus 14-42mm or Olympus 40-150mm
reiluke 01-26-2009, 02:15 AM Bro's,
i just ordered the pancake 25mm f2.8 lens, now i want to sell 1 of my kit lens
my e410 came with the with Olympus 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital Lens, and Olympus 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 Zuiko Digital Lens
i have been using 14-42mm for portraits and group pic but i think the 25mm will do for portrait and snap shots.
which should i sell the 14-42 or the 40-150mm?
btw the lens are a week old with year warranty, how much can i sell them for?
thanks a in advance

i think you answered your questions already :) the 25mm is one fine lens :) how much are you going to sell the 14-42 for anyways? if it's just for a small amount, keep it instead.
Francis Cadiente 01-27-2009, 08:18 PM I think you'll be able to sell the 14-42 for about 5K max.
If your going to sell your 14-42, you will not have a wide angle lens, 28mm pancake is equivalent to 56mm.
I suggest you keep both
reiluke 01-27-2009, 08:29 PM ah i see, i could have settled for 5k but if you say so ill keep it
another question why is sigma so cheap

I don't know why it's cheap, but from what I've heard this lens is very sharp, and a good buy:)
junjunsantamaria 01-30-2009, 09:15 AM oo nga bro wag ka mag satang ng lens baka dumating ang araw kailanganin mo yan.
noel guerrero 01-31-2009, 11:43 AM Would the 14-42 mm fit on an old OM-10? I maybe interested.
benedictmusngi 02-01-2009, 10:13 AM The 14-42 wouldn't work on the OM-10 because of it's focus by wire feature. That goes for the rest of the Zuiko Digital series anyway.
As for the thread question, I wouldn't advise getting rid of any of your lenses so far. I do agree with what was stated in an earlier reply that you don't know when you are going to use either of them and you may as well regret it if you do.
Francis Cadiente 02-01-2009, 10:39 AM Agree with you benedict, you can get rid of your 14-42, if you already have 14-54, 12-60 or even 14-35
totogamboa 02-03-2009, 11:57 AM hi reiluke,
When i was an E410 user, the best thing I had was that 40-150mm. It was a fave lens and thought of keeping it when i was about to sell my e410. i had a really great copy of that lens. But the 12-42 is just as good. Tsk ... I miss my E410. :)

Sigma is not so cheap. The better term to use is that its prices are "reasonable". The better question perhaps is why Oly lenses are so expensive.
Francis Cadiente 02-03-2009, 08:06 PM Tsk ... I miss my E410. :)
hahaha:D
Me I want a D300 + 150-500mm:Grin:

Here is from my Oly E410 and my favorite kit lens, the 40-150mm.

for the zd, try to get the 14-54 or the 12-60 that will replace your 14-42
totogamboa 02-04-2009, 05:10 PM Me D200 will do + 150-500mm

Francis Cadiente 02-04-2009, 08:48 PM OT: why not, even a 2nd hand D200 + 150-500 just for birding
Wow I don't have the 40-150 lens, I didn't know it was this sharp
totogamboa 02-05-2009, 08:53 AM Wow I don't have the 40-150 lens, I didn't know it was this sharp
It was all sharp for me at all range even at full zoom. i really actually thought of keeping the lens hoping that when i get back to oly someday i'd be able to use it again. but ... oh well :)
here is another sample for that glass at full zoom.

reiluke 02-06-2009, 11:16 PM thanks for the replies, ill keep it then, but i would love to have the 70-300, mas gusto ko telephoto shots kahit walang IS camera
i cant believe na kit lens eto bro ganda nang kuhahttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/3253778897_cdf8bfea40.jpg
Francis Cadiente 02-07-2009, 07:42 PM yup 70-300 is a great lens, but not enough for birding
I want a Bigma 50-500mm
dennistulud 03-01-2009, 12:01 PM sorry sir...am a newbie here at dpp...been a enthusiast for 3 years, also using an oly, yup 70-300 is not enough for birding...also hoping to get the bigma like my freinds here at singapore....medyo tumaas lense prices today (kung kelan nagrecession). Sigma lenses are clear and sharp. As for the question..I don't suggest to sell the old kit lenses, zuiko kasi. If you have'nt bought any wide angle lense to replace your kit lense...baka magsisi ka sir....
