marcelo chan 11-01-2006, 01:50 AM It is a nice lens , but how much did you pay for it?
bryanyap 11-01-2006, 03:23 AM 28-135 used to be my walk around and all-around wedding lens. A personal favorite for more than a year before I decided to upgrade to fast lenses.
I still recommend this lens to my friends who are starting in photography and who are not planning to plunge into wedding photography.
Macy, just make sure you'll drop by Hidalgo again soon and buy that 50mm f/1.8 ok? It's a very reliable lens to have for an affordable price.
Dys Santos 11-01-2006, 05:52 AM I also bought it in Hidalgo, from Avenue. It focuses quickly given that you aimed at something that can be focused on, but if you did not, it will be lost focusing back and forth. Overall, this lens is serving me well enough.
macy tirador 11-01-2006, 09:20 AM i got it from mayer for 23k, mahal ba yun? Im still getting used to the feel of a larger/heftier lens, as for performance i dont know yet, will try to take some pics today.
bryan, yes the 50 1.8 is really on my wish list, a lot of the dpp guys recommend it, is it really a good walk around lens?

Macy, given na yun pag kay Ramon (Mayer) ka bumili, you get yourself the cheapest deal. He sells at the lowest possible kasi. It's P23,500 at Avenue and at Henry's (whenever they have stocks available:Grin:)
This lens performs well. And you'll love it more if shooting in good lighting conditions. If you haven't bought the lens hood yet, better buy one for it soon cause it will help a lot, aside from making you look more pro, hehe.
Will always recommend the 28-135 as a walkaround lens but not the 50mm since it performs well for portrait shots.
28-135 may not cover the widest and the longest range since it's a mid-range lens but you'll find it so convenient and so fun to use most of the time. Although this lens does not perform well during low light conditions, an external hotshoe flash could easily tide over this lens's deficiency.
Overall, I really loved this lens. I wouldn't have let go of it if only I wasn't into wedding photography where fast lenses are most needed, especially if you use available light most often.
Kaya in short, Macy, you surely will love your new lens! USM na, ang ganda na ng range kaya di ka na papalit-palit pa ng lens (w/c makes the cam prone sa sensor dirt), at may IS pa! Enjoy shooting with it na, go go GO!
macy tirador 11-01-2006, 06:30 PM thanks bryan, dys and marcelo 4 sharing ur thoughts and experiences with this lens, appreciate it
ricardo_li 11-01-2006, 11:38 PM 28-135mm is a really good walk around lens, but the price is kinda high.
But atleast you get to use IS on your canon... hehe
