View Full Version : Historic Vigan
Norman_P._Aquino 10-31-2006, 09:35 AM Got invited to shoot and write about Vigan during the weekend. It was raining on our first day, but the next day, the sun finally went up, so I had a chance to shoot the ancestral houses along Crisologo St. Vigan's charm captivates the soul and the nearby municipalities -- Bantay, Santa, Narvacan, and the others -- have a splendor unique to themselves. Here are some photos from the trip...
Regards,
Norman

Tok Paler 11-01-2006, 02:20 AM Norman Aquino,
My thoughts on your photos:
1. there were all shot in Historic Vigan
2. they all showed the what is there to be seen in Historic Vigan
4. i skipped number 3 because it is irrelevant to the subject of photography in Historic Vigan
5. uummmm....
6. i wish i could go back there... =b
galing ng "kalesa" and "untitled"! =D Vigan is a whole different place viewed through you UWA! and through your compositions of course! =B)
we're you able to get some bulb shots? =D

John Edward Taca 11-01-2006, 07:51 PM how long were you there? you seemed to have covered good ground day and night..
i enjoyed looking at your fresh perspectives and how you creatively used the calesas as your forefground =)
Norman_P._Aquino 11-01-2006, 08:30 PM Tok, you are right, it was raining the whole Friday and even at night, there was a drizzle. John, thanks for the comment. We left Manila on Thursday night, arrived in Vigan at 2 a.m. Friday. It rained the whole Friday, but on Saturday, weather was perfect. We left Vigan at around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The trip was hosted by MNTC, which is promoting the north as a tourist destination -- which meant we had to go there by land. The journey was around seven hours. Yes, we've pretty much covered everything during our two days there since this was a media tour. A tourist guide was hired for the purpose and we were following an itinerary.
Still, I feel two days are just not enough. There were times when our van passed by something photogenic but we couldn't stop because of the hectic schedule. Besides, I was the only one who was really eager to take photos. The rice field was one instance when I insisted that I get off the van. I promised them it would take just a minute, but they didn't mind the five-minute extension. =B) It was raining a bit then, but the scene was just too beautiful to ignore.
Vigan is such a wonderful place. I am a water freak, but I didn't mind not seeing the ocean while there. Besides, I did get wet from the rain... =B)
Regards,
Norman
