Can anyone recommend a good Nikon P&S? I have a <insert brand here> that I really like but I'm just tired of the unreliability.
I need a camera that can stand being turned on and off several times every day. Around P15k, uses CF cards (this could be difficult seems most P&Ss use SD cards now), and has manual exposure. Something similar to the Canon Powershot A-series.
Oh and if anyone can recommend something from other manufacturers too that would help.

JP,
Your timing for this thread couldn't be any better. Why? Because you'll find out in the next day or so with an announcement from us about a Nikon P&S. Just stay tuned.

Get the Fuji F30.
Yup! Get the Fuji F30. I just bought one for my wife the other day. One of the best (or I think the best as of now) in terms of natural light shooting. ISO 800 is unbeatable (vs other P&S, not DSLRs), ISO 1600 is still usable. It can be a starter camera but it can also work for enthusiasts with limited budget since it has manual (only A/S priority not really full manual, but still).
It got great reviews on almost any photography sites I looked at.
Or the F31fd... almost the same as F30 in all aspects but with added Face Detection. See here (http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/lineup/f31fd/index.html).

What about reliabilty? I need something that can handle 100 shots a day everyday plus frequent on/off switching and changing of memory cards. Or should I just get a DSLR since P&S's aren't built to handle heavy use? My current P&S's from <*****> break down every few months. I've had 3 cameras die on me in the past 3 days.

Wow! 3 cameras in 3 days! I suggest you go get the D200. Sturdy body and built to last.
