first time i saw that site. any feedback from people who have actually purchased there?
john_villavicencio 10-25-2006, 03:02 PM my spider sense is tingling.... hmmm
caveat emptor mi amigos... :)
Jouvet Lee 10-25-2006, 03:14 PM Anybody tried to buy the units? The prices are outrageously low...but good for us if they are true
jerrytieng 10-25-2006, 03:51 PM Doubt they're for real. Like one infamous shop in Quiapo who quotes below-cost pricing but do not have them in stock. I sell D80's and D200's, PM me. :)
vittorio velasquez 10-25-2006, 03:57 PM I actually inquired from the seller named ren and he replied that he is from china and you need to wire the payment first before they ship the items. Nakakatakot mag-order, baka naloloko yung tao. Anyway, ingat na lang since it's a classified ads and pinoyphoto.com doesn't have a way to know for sure if the seller will deliver or not unless someone tried to buy from the seller already. Even ebay had been ecountering this sort of problem and it's up to the members to practice extreme caution in their dealings.
Jouvet Lee 10-25-2006, 03:58 PM ah...from china pala...i smell fish...
vittorio velasquez 10-25-2006, 04:13 PM Since we are a small community here in our country, I think nobody here will try to dupe anybody. Tempting talaga yung mga posts nung seller na "ren" ang username. but I don't think I will be ordering anything from him anytime.
Dexter_Go 10-25-2006, 04:22 PM just bought a d80 from columbia they are selling it for 75K+ w/ kit lens 18-135 they are giving a free bag, free tripod and a free 256k flash drive. i think you can buy the d80 from hidalgo at 62K w/ kit lens 18-135.
archie_apostol 10-25-2006, 04:27 PM Doubt they're for real. Like one infamous shop in Quiapo who quotes below-cost pricing but do not have them in stock. I sell D80's and D200's, PM me. :)
Interesting...
I had the same experience in SG recently. At least 1 shop gave me a fantastically low price then told me to come back the following day because he had to get the stocks from his warehouse. My dumb alter-ego did so and when I came back, the guy did a new sales pitch to sell a package of lenses and/or accessories to up the price.
Smelled something wrong right there so I backed out of the store.
 Got away in one piece with the guy still doing his pitch as I was stepping out of the store. hehehe

jerrytieng 10-25-2006, 04:40 PM What would be interesting is if we can actually go and pick up the item. Their pricing reminds me of NY's finest bait-and-switch operators. :)
john_villavicencio 10-25-2006, 04:54 PM you can't even get it for that price in China... I was just there a week ago... scam yan for sure
willy_palacios 10-25-2006, 05:00 PM John maybe you should give them a call hehehe
vittorio velasquez 10-25-2006, 05:03 PM PinoyPhoto has just removed the ads of the seller from the website.
willy_palacios 10-25-2006, 05:19 PM PinoyPhoto has just removed the ads of the seller from the website.
yeah I noticed too, i think since a "pinoy" site sellers Must be from the phil. but those who are abroad could also buy/sell as long as thier filipino citizen. theres always ebay for others
vittorio velasquez 10-25-2006, 05:22 PM I coudn't agree with you more
Nedzi Romero 10-26-2006, 12:51 AM I also saw this guys ad. Sent him an e-mail and he replied that he will be in Manila around 2nd week of Nov coming from China with samples to show me. However, a couple of hours later he sent me another mail saying that his prices will go up soon and I have to order now to keep the low price... I did not bother replying to him again as I knew that something was wrong here... So, beware. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Nedzi Romero 10-26-2006, 12:55 AM I think this shop is in Sim Lim if I remember right... His style is to give you rates similar to other shops at first. When you show disinterest or go out of his store, he suddenly throws you a very low price (around Sing$ 100-200 lower)... and yes, he asks you to come back an hour later or the next day as he has no stock on hand (even if there's a display unit in the store). Didn't bother going back as I knew it was an impossible price in the first place.
Interesting...

dave_deluria 10-26-2006, 01:03 AM It's a scam.
These unscrupulous chinese scammers put all sorts of eye candy on ebay.ph and lots of pinoys got screwed with lures of cheap luxury goods since our countrymen wasn't used to ebay when it first opened it's doors here.
vittorio velasquez 10-26-2006, 03:03 AM We will never be free of those scammers. Ingat na lang. We all know a lot of us buy our photo equipment from our hard earned money.
taks paler 10-26-2006, 04:34 AM also read that post from Ren...IMO it if its unbelievable low priced its probably a scam and if its not its probably broken..:)
Brent_Co 10-26-2006, 10:14 AM Its probably a NiCON insteak of a Nikon.

Too good to be true
darwinandres 10-26-2006, 10:28 AM So what's the real price of a D80 and D50 at Hidalgo? My friend is planning to get one.
willy_palacios 10-26-2006, 10:35 AM I just called the Number & Maggie said they are a wholesale company that's why thier price is cheaper. Rene was out of the office & will call me here in HK maybe this afternoon. D200 is P52K & D80 is P26K Body only standard package. Pay by Either western union or bank Transfer. I was asking if paying using Visa but she can't give any details.
I said I wuz ordering 5 D80's
what do you want me to do guys :Scared:
john_javellana 10-26-2006, 11:13 AM D80 fo 26k?? baka naman D70 yun!
jerrytieng 10-26-2006, 11:15 AM Please note that there's this one shop in Quiapo who does the same. :)
john_villavicencio 10-26-2006, 11:15 AM still sounds fishy to me....
willy can you buy me some and i'll reimburse you... hehehe
jerrytieng 10-26-2006, 11:16 AM @willy
Tell them kaliwaan. You'll bring cash, gold, diamonds, etc.. and he brings the real deal. :D Also make sure that kasama battery, charger, and all standard accessories.
Sa New York they do this and then they'll ask you to buy this or that accessory at outrageously high prices and if you don't agree, the deal is off.
willy_palacios 10-26-2006, 11:24 AM I ask about the whole package & Maggie said those, (bats, charger etc. ) are included. Now What I worry about is the inside. Someone here ask me if there where any Fake DSLR's here in China - not far from reality, if you've seen my post on the fake 4G Memory they sold here.
I could ask for a Letter of Credit to be safe, but that is if they agree on that.
john_villavicencio 10-26-2006, 11:28 AM hmmm... still sounds fishy...
they can pirate pretty much everything that is out there... :)
maybe you can drop by their shop or something?
dave_deluria 10-26-2006, 11:31 AM Yeah since you guys are in the Mainland already. I'll buy from you guys, even without warranty but not from total strangers.
john_villavicencio 10-26-2006, 11:35 AM so what do you want dave? d200 now?
dave_deluria 10-26-2006, 11:37 AM For 52k? Do bears sh*t in the woods?
Noel Yuseco 10-26-2006, 11:48 AM Naku, ingat tayo. As a banker and specializing in trade finance, you will be exposed to performance risk and delivery risk.
Whenever one buys online from the internet, one must be 100% confident that the merchant will 'perform'. "Perform" means that once they receive payment, they will package and prepare the item for delivery. Since you have paid 100% already, you are at the mercy of the seller. The legit companies like barnes and noble or amazon, dont even charge you until they show you proof of delivery (the package is already in the hands of the courier evdienced by an airway bill number). Etong pinoyphoto, pay first, perform later. Sa legit, perform first then pay.
Secondly, you also have delivery risk. The website has to state clearly how the package will be delivered. For legit companies, they use a reputable courier service (US Postal, DHL, Fedex) to eliminate delivery risk. Furthermore, the legit companies can even assume delivery risk. For instance, if the seller commits that the courier will deliver to you within 7 days of airway bill date and if you complain on the 8th day that you have not received your package, the seller will re-send you a new set for free. You may even end up having two of what you ordered while paying for only 1.
Other unstated costs are delivery costs and customs duties which the price does not consider. You may have to find out how the units will be delivered. If they go thru a courier, expect to pay normal import duties.
My suggestion is to know every detail from payment to personally receiving the package and ask yourself if you are willing to take the risks involved. And the best attitude is that when you pay, consider it a bad debt already since its a prepaid transaction and you are not aware of the merchant;s reputation.
And if you are really tempted, just try to buy 1.
john_villavicencio 10-26-2006, 11:48 AM hehehe... maybe you want a higher model... :P
dave_deluria 10-26-2006, 11:50 AM You get the higher model and I'll get your D200 for 52k he he he.
john_villavicencio 10-26-2006, 11:52 AM hehehe... oh willy can you get me the top of the line and dave the d200... :D

Dude, PinoyPhoto is not the one selling the items. It's the members. It's like tipidpc, buyandsellph, and bidshot. Classified ads po ang PinoyPhoto not an e-commerce site like Amazon where there's a shopping cart.
When you say "...etong PinoyPhoto, pay first, perform later...." you are trying to mislead everybody.
If you read my previous posts you will know that the items from this seller from china were removed.
I hope this clears your understanding of the biz nature of the site. :)
