I'll scan more... I have a 2 rolls of Velvia50's which I still haven't scanned... :)
David Tong 11-13-2008, 03:43 PM The first and the last two were popping out of my screen!!!
Gotta love slides :D :)
MelvinSevilla 11-13-2008, 03:50 PM The Minolta Dimage scanner did a very decent job in preserving the details and the color fidelity of the slides... Although, the dynamic range could use a bit of improvement (I have some slides which looked great on the light-table + loupe, but not that great when scanned on my PC)...
Once I get home I'll post the Velvia and Provia shots... I love Velvia!!! :)
Marty Enrile 11-13-2008, 06:48 PM These just convinced me to snap a few rolls of velvia and provia i have in the ref. I've been reluctant due to the cost of processing, not to mention the wait and the scanning. Great shots Melvin...
Winston Baltasar 11-13-2008, 09:50 PM Nice, Melvin! I miss slides and slide projectors.
ari_velazco 11-14-2008, 12:30 AM woot woot, i could only imagine looking at this pics on a light table. Thanks for sharing melvin.

David Tong 11-14-2008, 06:41 PM Melvs: No dough right now to play with film, but will definitely shoot some when I go back to Pinas next month (BTW, does Digiprint process E6?)
daniel go 11-14-2008, 07:18 PM Nice!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, the only lab in Pinas that does E6 is Studio58. They process it for 170/roll. Its a bit expensive to process the rolls (not including the actual price of the slide films). So you could imagine if I'm really picky pressing the shutter when using film, I'm probably twice of thrice picky than that when using slide films.
I hope there are more slide shooters out there, so that other labs start offering E-6 processing (like Digiprint!!!) and eventually drive the price down... (I know I'm dreaming, but I could happen!!!)
MelvinSevilla 11-15-2008, 02:06 PM As promised, posting Velvia50 photos...

Thanks! But there is really nothing new to learn when on film. I mean, right now I don't do my darkroom. I just sent it out to labs and stuff, so I'm just like any other shooter except I use film medium. Furthermore, I really don't PP my shots. Maybe just some minor tweaking on LR on contrast and exposure, but nothing more. With film (especially with slides), its either you got it on the shoot or never got it (unless again you do your own darkroom).

Hope I'm not jacking the thread but here's one I took with a Nikon RF/Velvia 50. I'm amazed because it was a cloudy and drizzling that day...
MelvinSevilla 12-10-2008, 04:03 PM No prob, marty... :)
Just keep on posting. I love to see slide film shot of other folks in the forum as well... :)

thanks melvin… that was quite an encouragement :) …right now i'm fiddling with my dad's old manual lenses so perhaps going film in the future won't be too "intimidating"
Marty Enrile 12-10-2008, 08:52 PM Go for it bingpena! Its a different kind of anticipation and satisfaction altogether. Thanks Melvin, let me dig up more if I can. Loving those shots of yours...
