can we do a mobiling photo exhibit? from Davao ,Bacolod,Cebu and Manila
an exhibit with a concept and theme..so that we can educated filipinos about photography.
its function and its creativity.

Ermm... I'm interested in doing photo shoots on those locations, not really showing off shots that I took. Hehehe... Nakakailang kasi ang gagaling ng mga tao rito...

I highly suggest, we take landscapes and travel pictures from where we are from to showcase the diverse amorsolesque feature of our country.

Anton, I think Inquirer has a section called "Only in the Philippines" where they accept photos sent by people who see signs that are in one way or another, copies, or crude versions of something more popular. Like Scissors Place (instead of Caesar's Place, the popular casino in Las Vegas). Hehe...

Pinoy would be a good topic although it tends to give signs that we're capturing people exclusively instead of the Philippines in general.

Anyway, I think we can organize groups here.. Like Davao group, Manila, etc. Then groups can shoot together (safer rin since marami, for example sa divisoria or quiapo.. hehe). Then a coffee table book can be published if we get really really good shots. :D

This is a great concept! I'll join this for sure. Anything Filipiniana for a theme, grouped into:

1. Landscapes (tourist spots, beaches)
2. Portraits (indigenous peoples)
3. Old Architecture (churches, etc)
4. Still Life (Paete crafts, the like)

Hope we can work out the details soon.

Finally, everyone in the Philippines gets the chance to be represented. Masyado kasing Manila-centric tayo, kahit na photography. :)

I don't necesarily represent the throng of Boholano photographers but since we're friends with most of them, I'm presonally counting their vote in also. Yes, BOHOL wants to be part of it!

Just lead us to the details and I'll gather and inform the rest here in Bohol.

Looks like things are on a roll. Will eagerly await and join this activity. May I suggest creation of a stirring committee?

I would also like to suggest to every participant to bombard all those travel photography forums (eg. PBase) with your images to jumpstart (again) the Philippine tourism industry. You'd be surprised to know that a lot of foreigners are skipping the PI because of misconceptions about our country.

Count me in Arlene... I will coordinate with Jake Borres while in Iloilo. I am mostly interested in Landscape and Scenery, but with emphasis on places that are not frequently visited by tourists (or not heavily commercialized). I do have existing collections of such images... places mostly un-inhabited... utilizing the assistance of trusted guides ('yung mga naka-tsinelas na may dalang M-16s).

Exhibit venues in Iloilo? Marami yata... Museo Iloilo, at the lobby of malls (SM, Robinson's), or perhaps at Jake Borres' resto.

As for themes... here are some that I could relate to at the moment... "SHOW ME YOUR WORLD" or "MY POINT OF VIEW"

hey! yah. i'm sure he'll be helpful. actually teddy is more the videographer. his brother chris is in charge of the photography arm currently. i'll invite both of them. :)

I suggest that if you plan to do this, its got to be done right from the start otherwise it won't look right to sponsors. I doubt we would have any difficulty getting the sponsors to support it though. Probably just one phone call away for us.

Some queries...

1. Prints spec's of photos to exhibit... size (90x120cm?), paper to use (canvass?)
2. Frames... uniform materials, same provider?
3. Photographers'/Artists' profile... same layout, same presentation?

Exhibiting your works is a good idea, but nick is right, it had to be done right in order to get good sponsors. It will be hard to organise something like this at first but when you get it through...tuloy-tuloy na yan!!! Way to go DPP readers and forum members!!! I guess DPP Editorial team will be much willing to help.:)

I have lots of Manila street shots -- Quiapo, Sta. Cruz, Binondo and etc. About 10 of my pics were included in a special Manila photo montage that was printed (20" x 20") and presented to Mayor Atienza during the Hidalgo Project inauguration.

Also, some of my photo essays about City of Manila culture had been picked-up and featured by Global Voices (an organization funded by Harvard Law Schol).

This is certainly a wonderful idea and I'd like to contribute to it. And if done right, as Nick had suggested, this group exhibit may even go worldwide.
