im planning to get a second hand Sony Cybershot DSC-H1 for 12k, is that alright?
and i prefer macro photography so will this camera be apt for the job?

To me, that is WAY expensive. Ok, the H1 was one of the best in the H series, but 12k is almost the b-new price! I'd not pay more than 8k.

For Macros, the H5 was also known to be excellent.

hi gilbert, i have an H5, used it until i got my D80 last october 2007. the H series is a good prosumer, but getting a 2nd hand H1 for P12k is expensive. you can get a brand new one and add more, a newer H series perhaps. just look around :-)

Hi, The H series are good for Macro when paired with raynox macro filter. I bought a H3
just recently and I am very satisfied with the image quality it's almost comparable
to DSLR. Check my multiply if you want to see some macro shots. By the way I bought
mine for sgd319 (approx. 10k pesos brand new - sale!) previously it's around 15-17k pesos. :Grin:

my first cam was an H1 ! ...eheheh. sold it for only 8k though.

thats true guys, H series are good for macro shots. i have an alpha 200 but im still using my H5 for macro shots.. problema ko lang sa H5, madali ma drain yung battery kasi it uses 2 alkaline batts lang..

hehe, my first 'serious' camera was an H1 as well.

good decision on getting an H1, stay below iso200 and you should be happy. i never used it for macro though, so I can't say if it's up to the task.

12k is a bit too much though-- like Aaron, I sold mine last year for 8k as well.

magaling nga H1 ng sony! dun din aku nag simula eh, pero mahal sa 12K yun, 15K nalang po ata brand new nun dati 32K. kainis:(
