why not make a multiply group? I'm interested to learn more from anybody. or if you happen to learn anything from me that would be even better. :)

we can either do a studio shoot or road trip to nearby towns or within NCR. Pro of the studio shoot is we can start after lunch which will give us enough time to do our errands in the morning. The con is, i cant think of anything yet.

For the day tour/road trip, pro is the experience itself and the chance to shoot whatever we want to shoot. The con is we have to wake up early, be back home early evening, which means less time with family.

I've been searching for a "weekend warriors" club too, since Sundays and (occassionaly) Saturdays are the only days I'm really free to shoot.. Count me in!!!

It would be a good idea to start with a studio shoot, so we can meet and greet everyone, after a family Sunday lunch.

Concerns would be:

1) Where to shoot (location of studio)
2) Who to shoot (know anyone interested?)

We can all split the rental fees, etc.

Im also interested to join the 'weekend warriors' unfortunately I can't join you on the 16th as I am out of town.

I have an alternate proposal. Why wait til the 16th. Why not try this Sunday the 9th. I suggest we do a location shoot. Maybe a sunset over manila bay. or Maybe shoot at High Street. We can meet at a specific time and shoot for a couple of hours then go for some beers after.

I will also start a list for the 8th in case there are those available this coming weekend.

Oh noh. I have no experience in organizing as well, but I have few suggestions.

1. Let's choose a studio which will be convenient for everyone.
2. If we are going for a studio shoot, we need a model or models, and a make-up artist.
3. We also need someone who has knowledge on studio lights set up, metering etc.

Hey man. Thanks for sending your details. Again, for every shoot, everyone is invited, "bata matanda may ngipin wala" unless there are/were limitations specified. For scheduled shoots with limitations, we will have to go with the 1st come, 1st served basis. This will be determined by the organizer of the Sunday Shoot.

I can join both dates (Nov. 9 & 16) pero sana pareho muna location shoot. My cam's just a baby. Might not be able to handle a studio shoot. But if studio shoot nga... syempre join pa rin. 5pm is still ealry to catch the magic light we all want to shoot. you will get that effect probably starting 5:15 - 5:20 and won't last for more than 20-30 mins. Trust me. I go there often enough.

I myself wont be there till 4:30 probably. But if there are those who want to go and hang out early then by all means. Its usually still pretty hot around that time so i try to avoid going outside till the last minute.

Meeting place: Starbucks by the bay behind Mall of Asia (MOA).
Time: Some people will be there 4PM-430PM-ish. (Rye will be there around 430PM or earlier)

Perhaps it would be better if we do an outdoor shoot first, like AWM, La Mesa, Avilon or any other place. Then from there, we can talk about the studio shoot.

i've been waiting for this EB for quite sometimes now...i hope i can make it this sunday...if not i will try again on the 16 (indoor or outdoor shoot), as long as we can share tips and advise on photography will be an interesting EB for me.

Agree with a Sunday Shoot outdoors. The number of people who want to shoot on the 16th have grown exponentially. Or was this because of the possibility of shooting indoors?

An out of town shoot is out of the question for me as i have to be somewhere early on the evening of the 16th. But by the sheer number of people possibly joining this shoot, i'm sure you'll all still have a blast. Wherever this may be.

What about a Manila Photowalk? I did this once in Binondo for the Scott Kelby thing and it was great.

Another suggestion could be a boat ride in Pasig River!

I also know of a Studio in Better Living Paranaque, and I got hold of a few numbers of models and makeup artists. I will not be able to handle organizing this though, as I will be very busy doing errands for a project for work.

If someone is willing to lead/organize this, i'll give out the details.

I can also help out in sending updates for the 16th shoot if you decide to shoot indoors, in a studio (in better living paranaque).

Let me know.

The weather, needless to say, did not cooperate. Texted a the list earlier today, saying I don't think we'll have clear skies tonight to do a Sunset Shoot in Manila Bay, but, everyone was still willing to go as everyone wanted to meet the faces behind the names.

It was great. We talked for about 2 hours, about the November 16 shoot. Details in a separate post so we don't preempt.

Anyway, since PJ and Oliver was very happy about the attendance, they gave me gifts! What wonderful and generous people.

PJ gave me a Canon 10-22 lens, while Oliver gave me a Canon 580EX flash.

I wish. Hahaha.

It has been agreed earlier today in the first ever Sunday Shooter EB (too bad we got rained out!) that the November 16, 2008 will be a very exciting On The Spot shoot!

We will again be gathering in Starbucks in San Miguel By The Bay area, behind MOA. Meeting time will be 2PM. PJ Enriquez, will not be able to join the shoot, but will be the one to conceptualize the theme. He will be sending me the theme by 230, and I will be announcing the theme by then. After the announcement, we will be shooting around the area (details and rules will be given on the same time and date).

IF YOU ARE LATE, YOU WILL NOT GET THE THEME AND RULES, AND HENCE, WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

The prize will be...

Tandanan...

A bagful of bragging rights! Plus the pot money that we will be collecting. Let's agree? 100Php or 50Php???

So, it's going going to be an OTS for next week... exciting! And for everybody and for the record... I am not a member of the MCC (Makati Camera Club). Sorry, I wish I was. I was thinking of a different club earlier during our EB earlier... I realized it just now. I'm going for the Php50/each for the prize money. Let's hope for a clearer and better skies next week, guys!

I have a question regarding Shops in Hidalgo. I heard sir PJ giving out suggestions on what shops should be visited. I am not very familiar with these shops and I hope You guys can enumerate some "low priced" shops I can call up.

I am thinking of buying a Canon 55 - 250 IS lens and a 430 ex II speed lite.

I think PJ was saying there are 5 shops that are regularly visited by photogs and I only remembered Mayer cause that's where I bought my camera :)

Rules for Sunday OTS

Photogs will have between to 2:30-6pm to shoot. They will be confined w/in the area of Baywalk between MOA and US embassy. Photogs will not be allowed to shoot across Roxas Blvd. Theme will be provided on sunday 2:30pm.

Photogs must submit 1 photo (largest Jpeg) on or before 7pm. No Photo will be accepted beyond 7pm. Photo must be downloaded directly from CF card to Rye's Laptop. No PP except for "in camera" modifactions.

Rules can be modified on the spot as the group sees fit.

Criteria:

Creativity: 10 pts
Technical: 10 pts
Relevance to Theme: 5 pts
Judges Perrogative: 5 pts

I will post the winners sometime next week.

Based on my research in Youtube, a softbox, during a studio portrait shoot, softens the shadows as compared to diffusing umbrella(white one). The black umbrella is used for fill light that is usually set-up as a bounce light.

To answer your question on what's better, it's a matter of preference. Try shooting with the items.

Congrats to Jovit. There were a lot of good shots but this is the one that appealed most to us the most creatively and technically. Its was not just about getting a good composed and exposed shot but also how the Photog creatively used the environment in relation to the theme of 'GROUPS'.

They collected Php50 per participant. I'm not totally sure how many participants there was.

Plus, I promised the guys i'll be giving out the winner of the 1st ever Sunday Shooters OTS the December issue or DPP (or in Jovit's case, the December issue of Playboy Philippines. Hahah just kidding - or am I? PM me your preference man! hahahah)

We can also use the rooftop/helipad for our profile pics! HAHA. We can just use 3 strobes, tripod stands and your camera.

San mig light! Haha. well, not necessarily. I just hope we could hang out first, relax, and get to know everyone besides knowing that we enjoy photography. And then we could shoot some more :)

ah didn't really like the one I used before, focusing seemed a bit soft, and it was heavy, well wasn't really mine anyway, haha, i just borrowed it from a friend since my 17-85 was being repaired...
