View Full Version : It's all about the details...

One thing that I love about the A900 is the sheer amount of detail you can work with. Here's a picture straight off-cam, just resized to 800x600, no extra work done:

And here's a 100% crop from the mouth area. It's wonderfully sharp, which just gives me a huge canvas to play with....

Is it just me? or is it a tad bit noisy?

It's just you. What you're seeing are skin imperfections / pores and this weird pink sheen lipstick she used.

On the right side of the crop, at the lipstick, there's a bit of blown highlights since the flash was reflecting right off the ultra-gloss lipstick. Other than that, it's the not-too-stellar quick-and-dirty JPEG processing of Lightroom which BTW supports the A900 cRAW. If I convert it using the Sony Tools into TIFF then Photoshop CS4, it's *much* better.

On the background, that's a pattern in the backdrop.

In a properly exposed picture, the A900 is basically noise-free up to ISO800; after that, one pass of NeatImage cleans it up.

It's not noisy. The color is awesome, details are sharp. We'd love to see more shots when you have the time to post, please Mike. Thanks!

If I give a 100% crop of her eyes, you can see the pattern of the pigments on her fake-color contacts. Sheesh. I love it! :D

If someone just stop and stare at a sample pic and then comment that its noisy... that's a tragedy.

@Mike, have you upgraded to a supercomputer? :D :D :D It's just USD25,0000 - good enough to process your 24MP images, heheh ;)
