View Full Version : Seagate Banner blocking some functions
allencortez 10-07-2008, 01:37 PM Hi sir nino,
Was just wondering if there is a way to adjust the seagate banner above since it's blocking the drop down menus such as "Search" and "Quick Links". When i go to the main page of DPP and the Forum Index, the banner blocks the space where we could type in the item we're looking for using the search command. Couldn't type in the alloted box.
Thanks so much
Kieron Tan 10-07-2008, 01:43 PM no problem with my browser sir, maybe it's just your browser. Try using other browser.
jiobearnalus 10-07-2008, 01:50 PM I am experiencing the same problem... seagate.swf always pops out on my screen... I am using mozila..
Kieron Tan 10-07-2008, 01:57 PM I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.03 works fine.
markspencertan 10-07-2008, 02:37 PM The banner blocks the search because the search bar goes behind the banner. It different for different monitor resolution. But it does happen.
Help us admin!
allencortez 10-07-2008, 02:42 PM Sorry Kieron as i'm not able to use a different browser due to office restrictions so have to deal with internet explorer and it's really is blocking the view
Angelo Mendez 10-07-2008, 03:27 PM It's also blocking my Quick Links options using Mozilla Firefox 3.03.
ronaldoruga 10-07-2008, 03:45 PM Try using google chrome. It works fine with me.
Patrick See 10-07-2008, 03:50 PM I think this is not something new. If you'll notice in the homepage, the DPP Mag advertisement also blocks the Quick Links dropdown.
Although this time, the Seagate banner is in every page so there's not much we can do.
Paul Julius Arca 10-07-2008, 03:57 PM same with me, im using IE6.0
nino_carandang 10-08-2008, 09:09 AM il check our backend. so far, using safari 3 and mozilla firefox 3 no problems.
Oliver Tam 10-08-2008, 10:12 AM still blocking search function :)
willy_palacios 10-09-2008, 09:59 AM it doesn't happen only with this banner but previous banners too, 3 of the PC's i'm using are all the same, using FF3
Carlo Leonardia 10-09-2008, 10:04 AM on ff3 and chrome, the search button pops up behind the banner in my PC also.
Lei Sarmiento 10-11-2008, 02:06 PM Can this be resolved yet? It's starting to get annoying :) peace!
markspencertan 10-11-2008, 04:33 PM in my chrome, the drop down menu does get blocked a little, but enough that I see what I'm typing. If this issue does not get resolved new threads might get posted because people could not use the search properly.
Then again. I just click "GO" since it's not blocked and it takes me to the advance search page.
Just click go on the search drop down menu guys.
Good Luck.
georgearquitola 10-11-2008, 04:45 PM try using safari...
David Tong 10-11-2008, 06:37 PM Simple solution (it blocks my search bar as well), just right click on the "search" link and open a new window :D
Angelo Mendez 10-11-2008, 07:01 PM Simple solution (it blocks my search bar as well), just right click on the "search" link and open a new window :D
Opening in a new window works with the Search link but not with the Quick Links.
georgearquitola 10-11-2008, 07:03 PM The Seagate banner may be adjusted in the coding of the web page to be left aligned may be it can help solve the problem.
Francis Cadiente 10-11-2008, 07:50 PM Having the same problem here, using IE7
luiscruz 10-11-2008, 09:47 PM I've got the same problem here - search and quick links drop down menus are hidden behind the Seagate banner in FF 3.03.
Jun Amuan 10-11-2008, 10:46 PM have the same problem when using Chrome and IE. no problem though with Safari.
Glenn.Esquejo 10-16-2008, 01:11 AM Why not just change the layout and move the banner right below the DPP header? :)
willy_palacios 10-16-2008, 08:32 AM ...or besides the DPP logo to the right, there seems to be a lot of blank space there
diegodanila 10-16-2008, 08:35 AM it is also blocking the search tab menu!!!
tembanaria 10-16-2008, 08:59 AM Not only does it interfere with search functions, it also triggers the popup blockers in one of my units.....
armand_apuntar 10-16-2008, 10:20 AM same problem here. firefox user 3.03. :)
Johans Lucena 10-16-2008, 03:42 PM I was also experiencing the same problem. I needed the search functions but couldn't type anything coz the seagate banner was blocking the dropdown menu. The funny thing is, when i entered this thread, the seagate banner now had a bigger space separating it from the search dropdown menu. Maybe you guys can also try it.
cestiu 11-11-2008, 03:08 PM I'm having the same problems too, can't use search. it's block by seagate banner.
I'm using firefox 3.0.3
WinLacanlalay 11-11-2008, 05:01 PM here's what I did to use the search function, I just clicked the GO button and it sends me to
the Search page with lots of options.
willy_palacios 11-11-2008, 05:55 PM win, that's what i do also then i just fill in the next page :)
WilsonCo 11-12-2008, 02:00 PM What I do is click on the portal and search from there. :)
But it's all moot now that it's fixed.
tembanaria 11-12-2008, 04:41 PM When will this be fixed?? ...
nino_carandang 11-12-2008, 04:53 PM When will this be fixed?? ...
work still fixing it. the problem with Flash is that it goes at the top most layer in any website. we're figuring out a fix.

Hi Sir Nino, I dunno if this will work but you can try.
Flash behind HTML (http://capcai.indorelation.com/blog/index.php/2006/02/22/flash-behind-html)
WilsonCo 11-12-2008, 08:36 PM Oops. Thought it was fixed. My bad. :)

you may set the flash movie with transparent background so that it will be at the back of the site menu. for more info please visit http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14201
sample:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">

Better email this to Mr. Nino Pasamonte since he's the one in charge here.
jasonmiraples 11-21-2008, 12:27 PM The file itself is already a flash/swf file and cannot be edited if the file is provided by the advertisers. They need the un-exported file or what they called raw file to encode the said additional code.

you mean the this code?
param name="wmode" value="transparent">
this is html code and not action script. it needs to be put on the html embed tag once you put the flash movie.
Alain L Aw 02-28-2009, 11:35 AM The seagate banner is still here? Its hard to navigate using the dropdown arrow of the search function.
