Matingkad yung mga kulay. Pag medyo nagsasawa ka na sa viewpoints na ginagamit, pwede ka ring maghanap ng ibang angles para medyo na-iiba naman yung dating. Good takes.

sure. pm mo lang ako. sarap din ang goto dito. but i guess, you're not missing all those stuffs. when i was in sfo, doon ko natikman ang iba't ibang lutong pinoy. in fact, i first tasted pinapaitan of ilocandia at the peak of mount diablo in one of the pinoys gathering!

oops. it's not the parrot, right? the 5th picture on this page.
are you referring to this?

this is a female saddled-billed stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis) native of africa.
one thing interesting about her is that, she does not have any voice, rather she communicates by rattling her bills and performs some kind of ritualized dances.
she's also dependent on wetlands which unfortunately shrinking due expanding settlements and drainaige systems.

the male saddle-billed stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis) can be identified by their black eyes compared to the female which has a bright yellow ring in the eye. (few threads above)

hi Jonathan, great catch of the wild lorry!
btw, try using flickr, photo.net, etc. i have a problem with photobucket too. i can't even go in to the website anymore. but i guess, it has to do with the firewall in my pc. can't find the solution yet.

The Common Moorhen, or Common Gallinule, (Gallinula chloropus) is a bird in the Rail family with an almost worldwide distribution. It lives around well-vegetated marshes, ponds, canals, etc. The species is not found in the polar regions, or many tropical rainforests. But elsewhere the Common Moorhen is likely the most commonly seen Rail species to most people, excepting the Coot in some regions.

The Brown Shrike, Lanius cristatus is a bird in the shrike family that is found mainly in Asia. It forms a superspecies with the closely-related Red-backed Shrike, L. collurio, and Isabelline Shrike, L. isabellinus. Like most other shrikes, it has a distinctive black "bandit-mask" through the eye. and is found mainly in open scrub habitats, where it perches on the tops of thorny bushes in search of prey. Several populations of this widespread species form distinctive subspecies which breed in temperate Asia and migrate to their winter quarters in tropical Asia. They are sometimes found as vagrants in Europe and North America.

Thanks for the thought PJ but I have its successor the Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM (http://www.flickr.com/photos/alabang/tags/ef200mmf2lisusm/) for over a year already.

Where is this "other photog forum's FS section" you mentioned so I can point it to those who may be interested? I only go to DPP for local photography.

The Philippine Serpent Eagle, Spilornis holospilus, is an eagle found in the major islands of the Philippines. It is sometimes treated as a race of the Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela). This species is usually found in forest clearings, open woodlands, and sometimes in cultivated lands with scattered trees.

The Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio), also known as the African Purple Swamphen, Purple Moorhen, Purple Gallinule or Purple Coot, is a large bird in the family Rallidae (rails). From its name in French, talève sultane, it is also known as the Sultana Bird. It should not be confused with the American Purple Gallinule, Porphyrio martinica. The common name in New Zealand, used for the subspecies P. p. melanotus, is Pūkeko, which is the Māori name. The variant found in Samoa, P. p. samoensis, is called "manuali'i," meaning "chiefly bird" in the Samoan language.

The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), is a wading bird of the heron family Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa. It is resident in the milder south and west, but many birds retreat in winter from the ice in colder regions. It has become common in summer even inside the Arctic circle along the Norwegian coast.

It is a large bird, standing 90-100 cm tall, with a 175-195 cm wingspan and a weight of 1-2 kg. Its plumage is largely grey above, and off-white below. Adults have a white head with a broad black supercilium and slender crest, while immatures have a dull grey head. It has a powerful, pinkish-yellow bill, which is brighter in breeding adults. It has a slow flight, with its long neck retracted (S-shaped). This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes and spoonbills, which extend their necks. The call is a loud croaking "fraaank". The Australian White-faced Heron is often incorrectly called Grey Heron.

The Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) commonly abbreviated to just Night Heron in Eurasia, is a medium-sized heron found throughout a large part of the world, except in the coldest regions and Australasia (where replaced by the closely related Rufous Night Heron, with which it has hybridized in the area of contact).

Adults are approximately 64 cm (25 in) long and weigh 800 g (28 oz). They have a black crown and back with the remainder of the body white or grey, red eyes, and short yellow legs. Young birds are brown, flecked with white and grey. These are short-necked and stout herons.

..a Dunlin (in between breeding & intermediate plumage), taken a few months ago, in Dauphin Island beach Alabama probably got dirtied up by the oil spill already..

Dunlins are sparrow-sized sandpipers with long, black, droopy bills and relatively long, black legs. In breeding plumage, Dunlins are comparatively easy to identify because of the conspicuous black belly patch and rufous cap and mantle. In the nonbreeding season, they are plain gray-brown on their upper parts and white below. A prominent white wing stripe, seen in flight, is present in all plumages.

The Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela) is a medium-sized bird of prey that is found in forested habitats across tropical Asia. Within its widespread range, there are considerable variations and some forms are treated as subspecies while others are considered full species and the systematics of the group is not resolved. Close relatives that are often treated as full species include the Philippine Serpent Eagle (S. holospila), Andaman Serpent-eagle (Spilornis elgini) and South Nicobar Serpent-eagle (Spilornis klossi). All members within the species complex have a large looking head with feathers on their head giving them a maned and crested appearance. The face is bare and yellow joining up with the ceres and powerful feet are unfeathered and heavily scaled. They forage over the forest canopy with their wings and tail showing broad white and black bars and often call with a piercing and familiar three or two-note call. They often feed on snakes, giving them their name and are placed along with the Circaetus snake-eagles in the subfamily Circaetinae.

These are a bird in flight sequence of the Blue-headed Racket-tail parrot. Cropped to 100%. This is a lifer for me. :)

The Blue-headed Racket-tail, Prioniturus discurus is a parrot found on all the larger islands of the Philippines not starting with "P" (i.e., not Palawan or Panay). It is 27 cm, basically green with a blue crown, bluish undertail, whitish beak, and dark underwings with green coverts. The Blue-headed Racket-tail (P. platenae) was formerly included in this species.

i really couldn't tell if those were kites, but could be since they're endemic. i'm also too far to hear their pitiful, mournful, sorrowful cry :D these were taken in Eden Nature Park, Davao City.

The reason I couldn't tell from afar is because the only encounters I had with the Brahminy Kite is here:

Yes. Last time I was there, about 3 weeks ago, there were only 2 kites flying above. Now there's five :D Glad to know and see those birds flying freely. I think some, if not all were raised at Eden Park and then were set free, coz there are no more kites in the aviary.
