As compared to HK... Price for body-only is approx. SGD 4000, with VG about 4500. and that's from Sonystyle, not the outside shops.

Not too sure yet... I find the 85mm to have just the right amount of "reach" on the A900. 135mm, though better than the 85, is a bit too "long" for the cramped space most of us here in SG have for portrait shoots

I usually don't pre-order items, especially items that cost as much as the A900, but after Sony arranged a preview and some hands-on time with the A900 I went for it.

Of course, pre-ordering also means, usually, paying the full manufacturer's suggested retail price, in the case of the A900, it was $3299.99CDN! Regardless of the cost of ownership, I plunked down my money and patiently waited for delivery on October 8.

Yesterday, a good friend of mine who works at a Sonystyle store told me that the price of the A900 was just reduced by $200CDN (he wants me to buy an A900 from him, he doesn't know that I already have one...shh!). I thanked him for telling me, but I was a little miffed because $200 is a lot of money! I checked the Sony Canada website and noticed that they had a price guarantee policy. I sent them an email and asked (nicely and respectfully) if they could price guarantee my A900. Within half an hour a representative replied and said that they were PROACTIVELY refunding customers the difference and that I would see the refund within a few days! Now that is service!

But the story doesn't end there. In the initial email to Sony I also enquired about the VG for the A900. In her reply, she told me that they were already in Sony's western distribution centre (all the way on the other side of Canada) and she said that if I were interested that she could arrange to have one delivered directly to me (all the way on the other side of the country). Zoinks! I also mentioned that I would be leaving to go on vacation in the middle of next week and that I would hope that I could have the grip to bring along with me on my vacation. To my surprise, she upgraded the delivery service from standard to expedited...for FREE!

I went into work this morning to check my email because she mentioned that she would give me tracking number as soon as one was available. I received her email with the number and checked it with the delivery service...IT IS ON THE TRUCK FOR DELIVERY!!!! Not only will I have the grip for my vacation, but I will be able to use it for the wedding that I am helping to shoot this weekend.

Now that is service!!!!
