Hello everyone!
I love fireworks, I really do. And I am sure many of you likes to shoot fireworks as well. so let me tell you one of my pyro-stories...

The Vancouver Celebration of Light is considered as the world's most prestigious fireworks competition of its kind - a "pyro-musical exhibition". The fireworks synchronize with the music simulcast over an FM radio station - so that expectators can listen thru their portable audio devices. HSBC has been sponsoring the event for several years already; and for the first time in its history, 4 countries joined and compete for the title - Italy(July 26), China(July 29), Czech Republic(Aug2) and Mexico(Aug5). Each show lasted for 30 minutes and the Grand Finale followed right after Mexico's presentation for about 6 minutes.

Mexico won the title for the HSBC Celebration of Light 2006.

i prefer the last one, with the lighted bridge in the foreground and the silhouette of the mountains in the background, more interesting, although it would have been better if there are more fireworks in it. could have done that if you have a multiple exposure mode in your camera, better than doing that in photoshop.
but all are fastastic shots...pretty hard to frame fireworks plus the right timing.

I actually like that one with the bridge the most because it has a foreground compared to the others, better composition, though it has fewer fireworks in it. It would have been better if there are more fireworks, yes, but those you can see there are the highest ones, the rest are just of the level of the bridge. That time I thought I would never have a good shot, even one. I was standing on top of another bridge when I took that. The fireworks are set up in barge on a fixed location (for each presentation night)!

And indeed its hard to frame fireworks, because its difficult to predict how high and how wide the explosion will go.

I shot RAW, no photoshop add-ons except for signature. No cropping made as well.

I have shot fireworks too but had to crop the hell out of it to make it usable since, as you've said, it's kinda hard to predict where they will end up so I tend to make allowances :(

That's all because of the words "luck" and "chance", be prepared - it will favor your mind's wants... That is the benefit of fireworks show lasting for at least half-an-hour, you can almost predict how high and how wide the burst will be.
By the way, where do you live in Batangas?:)

New Year here is VERY much different with what we usually have in the Philippines. Miss the noise - but its a lot more peaceful here, very much peaceful! :) No fingers thrown and found everywhere, hehe! :)

yah..the same lng festival of light/celebration of light n d same month din..basta after sya ng canadian day... mas ngcelebrate ng fireworks sila sa halloween kesa sa fireworks pero limited area lng pwed mgfireworks..

thanks for the kind words Bro. The one with the bridge could have been better if there were few more bursts, but those bursts were the highest ones and I don't want the foreground overexposed (if I waited for some more). But it works for me. :)
