DPP Forum members in KSA will have their Grand EB and Outdoor Photo Shootout during the Ramadan Eid Holidays... October 21 - 27, 2006. Destinations are... Yanbu and Rabbigh (for scuba diving, shark diving, and underwater photography)... Medain Saleh (for great scenic shots like the photo below)

My feet are already itching for the road trip. The Human GPS with Dagul, Rav4 and H2 will move on the 19th. Para palang Petra sa Jordan yang Medain Saleh can wait to see it.

I think I'll be needing a few gigful of new SD card for the Medain Saleh trip. I wouldn't want to miss out some shots just because I don't have enough storage. Bili na rin ako ng isa pang backup battery just in case... Hehehehe! :D

Jeff... Yanbu is only a 30-minute flight from Dubai (mura lang pamasahe ngayon)... we'll wait for you in Yanbu... then we'll drive together to Medain Saleh (6-hour desert drive from Yanbu).

Ano pa hinihintay mo bossing jeff? Around 2000 dirhams siguro if you fly with Saudia(round trip) puwede na. Ako na bahala sa foods and accomodation mo dito sa Yanbu! Puwede ka na sa bahay! Maluwag naman ang sahig eh! :)

Ahahahaha! Don't wori, pinapahalughog ko na buong Yanbu para sa holy water na iyan. Nahuli lang kasi last week yung isang source kaya pahirapan maghanap ngayun.. Sa belly dancer naman, puro malalaki ang tiyan ng mga belly dancer dito eh tsaka sumasayaw lang kung lasing na..... ahihihihihi :D:Grin:

Sarap naman nyo dyan mga pare, nakakaingit :( , kung hindi lang ako busy dito sa Dubai. Lilipad agad ako dyan. Maganda ang dagat sa banda dyan lalo na Yanbu at Rabigh . Dyan sa Yanbu malapit yata sa cement factory ,dati ng spear fishing kami dyan , Tol ang isda ang lumalapit sa iyo. at ang ganda ng ilalim puro colorful corals. Sana post nyo ang mga kuha nyo.

Magkikita din tayo bandang araw , pag nakakuha kami ng project dyan ulit...:)

Ngapala Cristo, regarding your bblog issue have you updated your D70 software ba? diba the bblog is the issue regarding the power and the LED light indicator of the CF? kase i saw this upgrade and it says

"Nikon has today posted a firmware update for the D70 digital SLR. Since we first reported this news the firmware is now available in the US, Europe and Japan.. The D70's firmware is split into two parts (A & B) with this new firmware labelled as "A:Ver.1.01/B:Ver.1.02". It addresses several issues; removal of potential color cast at high shutter speeds, improved Auto ISO when used with speedlight, support for CF card greater than 4 GB in capacity, fixed an issue related to the CF indicator light and power off switch, improved Chinese menus."

Migs... meron available na tig-isang pirraso na ND8 at ND2 sa Shamsan-Khobar kay Bulag... sr60 kada isa... sr100 for both. Kunin ko ba pareho? Meron din ako napulot sa drawer ko na 67mm na C-PL (donasyon ko na ito sa MigsGuerreroPhotoCenter)... :Grin:

I'm trying to browse sa google earth yung daan from Yanbu to Al-Ula pero parang walang daan papuntang Al-Ula from Al-Wadjh eh. Yung mga human GPS natin diyan, konting tulong! Baka maligaw ako eh! Hehehe! :D

Google Earth data lags by several years. so yung mga bagong daan ay di mo pa makikita, not unless youre using the PRO version. from the map I have of AL-Ula, there is a road leading to Al-Wajj (wadj). so pag dating mo ng Al-wadj from Umm Lajj, meron dapat detour to Al-Ula.

dont you worry pag maligaw ka, ipapasundo ka namin ng helicopter :)

I've been to Al-Wadj na kasi kaya wala ng problema yung Yanbu to Al-Wadj. So what I have to do is to go east dun sa intersection sa Al-wadj? Tama ba? Dire-diretso lang ba yun tapos Al-Ula na ang labas? Sensya na po... Baguhan sa road trip eh.. :D

Bossing Jun, hindi po akwen si Lumens eh. Sa pwend ko po yun. Kotse ko ay lumang Mazda 929 gamit ko pang-service dito-dito sa Yanbu. Ayoko naman ibiyahe ang aking precious car baka mamaya di pa ako nakakaabot ng umlajj itinirik na ako... Hahahaha! :D

Anyway, wish me luck na lang po... :)

Meron na rin ako na-recruit na co-pilot. Sasakyan na lang talaga ang problema. :D

@Dante... welcome to DPP... another great artist joins the rank of DPP community. Congratulations also in your recent painting exhibit entitled "Guhit Kulay... Deep Colors," galing-galing talaga.

@TerryCabilogan... bakit di ka mag-join sa trip na ito? We've been doing these photo-trips since 1990s pa kaya more or less ay kabisado na namin ang gamit at pagmumukha ng bawat isa... I doubt kung magkawalaan pa kami ng accessories since we normally share them among the family members.... malapit na nga magkapalit-palit ng mukha yung iba eh. There are times when one pulled out his/her camera... parang naging Nikon yata yung Canon ko... bakit umigsi yata ang lente ko... hoy camera ko 'yan!!! At hindi lang camera at mga accessories ang nagkakapalit-palit... patuloy din kaming nagpapalitan ng mga kuro-kuro, ideya, at mga karanasan... all for the very purpose of pursuing our deep interests and passion in the arts and craft of photography... all-embracing, all-unifying, at higit sa lahat nagmamahalan kami. KAYA JOIN KA NA!

Kung wala ka talaga makuha ay ibiyahe mo na si Mazda929 mo, kung tumirik man ay marami naman tayo magtutulak...

Or another option is... magpahatid na lang kayo sa taxi/limousine sa Al-Ula... pagdating naman namin doon ay maluwag kami ni Jerome sa kotse (dalawa lang kami) so pwede pa dalawa sa likod. Bale sabay-sabay na tayo pabalik ng Yanbu. Siguro ay halos pareho lang ang magastos n'yo sa car rental at sa taxi/limousine service.

Hintayin ka namin sa Al-Ula... exciting kasi pure adventure talaga ito... parang Raiders of the Lost Ark... tapos doon tayo matulog sa Medain Saleh mismo katabi ng mga mummies... yaaaiiikkkssss!

Ka Orly, much better kung meron ka sanang mahiraman na GPS. Our group have 3 gps isa na ron si JunT as human GPS :) . bigay lang natin pareho exact coordinates natin magkakaalaman na tayo.

TKOers, meeting place ay sa bahay na kate in exit 8. Jojo/Jerome will arrive @ 2AM Friday kape ng konte then depart from Riyadh @ 2:15am, dating tayo sa Medain Saleh by noon Saturday.

Very Rough Update!

Oct 19
- Jose and myself arrived in Riyadh @ 1:30am EB with Riyadh Group.

- Departed Riyadh to Al-Ula via Qasim-Madina Highway roughly 1600 km. Lots of fun and sunrise shoot on the way.

- Arrived in Al-Ula @ around 9:30pm (The town we were based for Medain Saleh's assault)

Oct 20-22
- What a blast, shutter-counts increasing every second.
- @ around 8:30 our phones keep ringing every 30min, then by a minute. It was Orly who is asking directions and his whereabouts.
- Finally we met Orly and his friend and fetch them on the other side of the mountain. The grand EB for DPP-KSA has been completed.

Oct 23
- arrived in Yanbu 4hrs ago as i post this message.
- Boat dive @ 7:30am

Oct 24
- Shark Dive... (Ngeek!!!!)
- Shore Dive... (Dito ako) this is my first time to dive in Red Sea.

We thank Orly for hosting us here in Yanbu (he is asleep too) I would say everybody is asleep and they are "Humming" as in Rumbling! hehehhe.. It's a grand Choir here right now. The rest of the guys wil tell the story as we unfold the chapter of DPP-KSA as we call it. Hey i need a good sleep too and i will join the choir later with them...

To Our DPP Family and Colleagues,

Pasens'ya na at wala pa available the photos for posting (e.g. group hugs, etc.) Pagod pa kasi sa biyahe ang mga tao. We're already on our 4th day KSA roadtrip... we have already witnessed extreme beauty of both worlds (on land and underwater). Hindi namin mai-describe and kagandahan na aming natunghayan at nakita sa Medain Saleh at Reefs 23 and 24 at Yanbu (Red Sea). We are scheduled for shark feeding today and visit Seven Sister Islands (depth of 160 feet).

We'll post photos later...

One thing I noticed... there are tombs whose placement are very high that you'll need to climb several steps and with intricate designs as well... while there are also tombs whose entrances were literally at my waist level and no designs at all. I was beginning to think that it has something to do with social stratification...
