this BOTS are getting smarter & smarter, now they don't just create a new Thread they are now Inside the threads which are made by legit members! It's getting kinda scary now viewing threads specially with the family around & some small children. I hope this can be resolved.
I can't understand why DPP has become a target for this?

I don't think these are spam bots but professional spammers who sign up on DPP and post spam. The email validation at sign up is one way to stop spammers but these guys do it professionally. We're online almost every day but its impossible for us to police DPP 24/7.

I'm wondering about this as well as (like most of us) frequent a lot of high-traffic sites with none of the porn spam issues like in DPP. I'm pretty sure those are bots and not real humans as bots are capable of bypassing email validation sequences (seen those before)...
There are some workarounds that Nino might wanna try. It'll limit some usability by new member but what the heck...
See this thread for ideas - http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=427852
I think the combination of per-new-thread CAPTCHA + Active members only mod will be a good combo.

Yeah, i guess a more secure "join" algorithym is needed or say 10~20 Text post before they can start to post pictures.

Policing is really difficult but is it really effective, I mean the thread for SPAM/Porn. Do you have any other suggestion to fight this? On the part of legit members what help can we contribute?

BTW, when I browse DPP at home (since the kids are around), I turn off the images in my Opera browser hehe.
