View Full Version : 50mm f/1.8, MkI or MkII?
JonDexterTan 10-16-2006, 03:27 PM on some twist of fate, i have in my hands both the MkI (with metal mount) and MkII versions of the 50mm f1.8 lens. i'd like to keep just one, is there any difference on the perofrmance or IQ of both lenses? what would you recommend i keep and i dispose?
:)
Ruel Tafalla 10-16-2006, 03:31 PM keep the MKII...sell the MK1 to me... :)
Cyrus Estanislao 10-16-2006, 03:36 PM keep the MKII...sell the MK1 to me... :)
Why sell the MK1 to you? Maybe you can have it for free .... hehehehhe :)
Ruel Tafalla 10-16-2006, 03:40 PM I can even settle for the MKII for free.. :)
Sorry for Crashing your thread Jon, but seriously both are good lenses..
JonDexterTan 10-16-2006, 03:41 PM uhhh... okay, so i gather i'll keep the mkII, sel the mkI to you and have it for free at the same time? :P hahaha!
anybody else have experience or thoughts on those two lenses?
Ruel Tafalla 10-16-2006, 03:54 PM wow thats a good idea...i will pm you my address... hehehe
JonDexterTan 10-16-2006, 03:59 PM i'll even send it with durian :D haha!
Ruel Tafalla 10-16-2006, 04:03 PM that's even better, but we have a lot of durians here in Indonesia... :)
Keep the MKI, even it hurts my feelings... heheheh just a joke....
randytamayo 10-16-2006, 11:58 PM Test both lenses for sharpness. Sell the 'sharper' lens ;)
bernard billedo 10-18-2006, 03:06 PM keep the mark 1. I had one and it's one kickass lens. Not only it's metal mount but it's got a focusing distance scale as well. Ginagamit ata ni Jay Jallorina ngayon. You can ask his experience with it. 50 1.8 Mark II lenses tend to break apart for no reason..
JonDexterTan 10-18-2006, 03:19 PM thanks guys... randy, you have a mark I right?
Roro Fernandez 10-18-2006, 04:01 PM If i were to choose, keep the MK1 for it's really hard to find one on these days, the MK2 are selling everywhere, so if ever you'll need the MK2 again for some reason, just buy it again hehe :)
Oh, one more thing, in case you'll sell the Mk2, you know how to contact me :)
lestercallanta 10-18-2006, 04:16 PM A comparative review with sample shots on the dueling fifties can be found on Petteri Sulonen's site (http://www.prime-junta.net/pont/Reviews/g_Fifty_versus_fifty/a_Fifties_duel_--_f1.4_vs_f1.8.html)
@Randy T: That site also featured the 28-70L which was thrown in for comparison :)
randytamayo 10-19-2006, 06:27 PM Yes Jon, I have the Mark 1...
