ok guys now that i've settled my wide angle problem (i got an sal11-18 from hk:Grin: YEY!) LOVE IT!!!

i really wanna get rid of my 2 kit lens (18-70 and my 55-200) and just get an 18-200 as my walkaround lens. now i know there are many a website with more than enough reviews but i wanna hear from you guys since... well, i'd like to think you would know better :)

in a couple of months my bro's gf will be going to hk and i've got enough for one lens left. other lenses for walkaround purposes would be nice also (i.e. i'm also considering a 24-105 but i really don't know yet)

suggestions? comments? PLEASE! thanks!

Neither.

For an all-in-one lens, I would prefer the Tamron/Sony 18-250. It has surprising IQ, although it does suffer from pin-cushioning at the wide end.

I have a sigma 18-200os. Nice enough for shooting outdoor. Very convenient for travelling.

Another vote for Sony 18-250. You may want to check Sony 16-105 as well.

the 18-250 is a bit out of my price range tho i will put it into consideration, i like the fact that it's got high iq definitely something to consider :)

how well does the sony measure up to the sigma on the 18-200 lens war?

raffyzamora

yeah the 16-105 seems like a pretty good option as well:) it's replaced the 24-105 on my top 3 choices

is the extra 50mm on the 18-250 really worth the extra dough compared to the 18-200?

i love how supportive you guys are, sorry kung makulit ako:Scared:

ey Raffy...

join one of the EBs...look for Lyra and borrow her 18-250mm....just make sure to give it back though :)

Oh and just to complicate things...I heard/read there will also be a Tammy 18-270mm coming out soon...

@raffy, it's not the range but the IQ that you will get from the 18-250 compared to the 18-200s (sony, tam or sig).
@gener, sa HK - it's ~HKD3800

Tam18-270 will initially be made available for Nikon and Canon mount... but Tamron is really getting better with this superzoom lenses :)

Which of these 18-200s are FF?

HKD3800 vs the Php29K of Sony Phils SAL18250 is looking really attractive, Raffy. :) The SAL18250 is on my wishlist too. Good luck!

According to the database on Dyxum, none; even the 18-250 lenses are APS-C lenses.

@lally:
29k for the 18-250? i think that's the 18-200 last i checked 18-250 was near 40k:(

but i could be wrong...

i read the dyxum and there isn't much difference with the ratings on the sigma or sony 18-200... maybe pony up for the 18-250? (para matigilan na ako!) :D i hear the

16-105 is a good walkaround lens as well... HAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY:Shock:

OT:
anybody got any recommendations where i can unload my two other lenses? (18-70 AND 55-200) i know i can't sell here, i just wanna know where :)

I thought the Q is just between Sony and Sigma..

I do have the Tammy 18-250mm .. just can't prove how it stands against other lenses coz I only have one -- just trusted those pipol (esp. Jagey) who said it's a good walkaround lens hehehe

bukas I will buy my 70-300 G and SAL100m (how I wish!)

raffyzamora

apparently tammy's can't be ignored...

and the list goes on...

Between Tammy and Siggy (same range) - I'll take Tammy without blinking. Between Sony and Tammy - Sony :)

did a little digging and found that in hk it's only $300 difference between the sony 18-200 and the 18-250  ($3590 vs. $3890)

and here? a ridiculous php11,500 (28.5k vs. 40k)

sony prices here are absolutely ridiculous.

anybody know where i can look for sigma prices in hk on-line? for comparison purposes only :)

DarwinPurol

$300HK or 11kPHP is a big price difference. For sure you can find a better price. Like here, for 18-200 you can get at $465CAD and the 18-250 @ $565CAD. A $100CAD difference only.

raffyzamora

looks like the 18-250 is a clear winner here... am i right?:Scared:

Believe me, the other two lenses can't compare to the 18-250.
