The original thread started by Nick disappeared during a merging with the other Epson Color Imaging thread that one of our members started. We do apologize for the lost posts. But here's the details of Epson's Contest:

Epson Presents Color Imaging Contest 2008

Epson is giving all aspiring and professional photographers the opportunity to showcase their talents by participating in its photo contest. The Color Imaging Contest was first launched in 1994, with the aims of promoting new forms of expression through digital printing, and to help create a rich, fun digital culture.

The Epson Color Imaging Contest is your biggest chance to compete with the best in Asia. All you need to do is shoot photographs or create graphics that best express your ideas centralized around Epson Philippines' 10th year theme of "Achieving Perfection."

You may submit your original photos or graphics expressing any of the following images:

1. Images of city scenes
2. Images of top tourist spots and;
3. Images of heartwarming moments captured in Filipino events or celebrations.

This year, we've made it easier and more exciting for you to win. Apart from the International Awards Grand Prizes, every eligible entry is also eligible to win in the Philippine country and Regional award levels. It is your best chance to gain international recognition. So, go on and let your creativity speak!

Entry submission deadline: 29 August 2008

There are two categories, namely:
a. Photograph Category (Amateur and Professional Subcategories)
Photographic works exploring the possibilities of photographic expression through digital processes

b. Graphics Category (Amateur and Professional Subcategories)

Top 30 Merit Prizes: Epson TX200 multi-function printer [The top 30 entries will be selected via local judging in the Philippines. These entries will be the ones sent to Japan to be eligible to win the country, regional and international awards.]

There's no issues when it comes to copyright and usage. Epson made that clear when they started the contest.

- To enter, contestants must submit a completed Entry form. All entry forms must be properly filled. The Entry form can be downloaded at www.epson.com.ph. Together with the entry form, contestants must submit two (2) hard copies of their entry printed in A4 size photo paper in full color and a high resolution soft copy (300 dpi, PSD or TIF file) in a properly labeled CD. The two hard copies should be printed on an inkjet or laser printer. Entries printed by photo labs will be rejected. (Note: This size restriction is valid only for entries in the Philippines. The size restriction will not be a limitation in the final judging of entries because the team of judges will judge entries based on creativity rather than size of entry.)
- Labeling of your printed entries should include your name and the title of your entry. Please place these details at the back of your entries.

i dont get it . The theme "Achieving Perfection", should it be more on human interest rather than cityscape and top tourist spot?

that's the overall theme. you can submit three types of entries: city scenes, tourist spots, heartwarming moments in pinoy events and celebrations all encompassing this theme.

it's because this is epson's 10th year in the philippines. this is the theme for the 10th year.

Hi Nin,
I emailed Epson but failed to have a response. Maybe they're busy. Anyway, a couple of questions.

* Will the photos only qualify if they're taken in the Philippines?
* Should be a contestant a Filipino citizen? How about a foreign passport holder but is a permanent resident of the Philippines?
* Am seeing toned images above their contest banner, would a toned/BW image qualify seeing that it's a color contest?
* Would the size of the image matter on the A4 paper?
* Should the printer brand be Epson?
* Would photos that was displayed on exhibits qualify (not published)

Thanks Nin!

Hello to all,

I've received some inquiries that the entry form is not visible. This is because the button for the entry form is in Flash and probably not enabled on some browsers.

If you have any inquiries at all on the form, please don't hesitate to email: colorimagingcontest@epc.epson.com.ph (colorimagingcontest@epc.epson.com.ph)

The entries are accepted until August 29 so send your entries soon! :)

Clarification needed sirs.

There is a part in the entry form: How many photos (if photo series)

So does it mean like I have three photos from cebu for example... then i enter it into one form?

Then I guess its one photo per entry form for anything else.

If you are entering a series, you have to enter how many photos is part of that series. You only need one entry form for that.

If you are entering three different photos and are not part of a series, you need one entry form for each.

This is because you enter many entries. :)
