This thread is dedicated to Manny Librodo who inspired many Filipino photographers like me to uplift the level of portrait photography here and abroad. Been priviledged to encounter/learned from a true Master photographer of our generation. Sir Manny put a living seed in every pinoy who touched and learned from his workshop, im honored to create a homage portrait of him and a series of textured images of Ms. Kharu Jazmin. Hope you like it.

Interesting Joel, i see that your Photoshop skill goes to a new level!:)

Master Ricky- weve seen Kharu in various photos in the past, and i would like to add flavor a twist in my set so i came up with this. About the photoshop skill, Sir Manny installed a new set of learnings inside my head and all i need to do is to channel that learnings and mix it with other techniques and this is my version of it. Nowadays in Digital era, the players are so competitive as a hobbyist i would like to prepare myself from the other side of the fence if it happens..its nice to have a new skill, never stop learning attitude and the learnings are not overnight, im just a beginner in this area still developing. With this i could shift myself to normal shooting just like this one.:)

for you Sir.

Sir Bernie- I still have no plans quitting my day job.:) Your a true photographer, you know the whole process...somebody told me even we are the best image enhancer in the world if we dont nail the initial shot of a photos the end result will not be at par. So True.

In the workshop of Sir Manny, the image process start with a concept, venue, costume, good lighting, guidelines in how to shoot good portraits...and the enchancement part is just a small part of the workflow....and of course Kharu is so exceptional model...she made it easier for the photographers to let the emotion flow in front of us..Thanks and see you soon!

I am so pleased by your reference to me in this thread. I have seen so many galleries in other sites taken during my workshops without any acknowledgement. You even alerted me about some.

Anyway.... you are one of the most gifted portrait photographers that I have worked with. And you are strong in photojournalism as well. That's a deadly combination.:)

Your photography has always been good, you've gone into high gear with your post processing skills, but more than that, your imagination to craft such final images has arrived. :)

Congratulations!

Hi Sir Manny,

Without your guidance/Advices and Kharus magnificent emo-tic poses i dont know how i can be motivated to try these things...Its a trial and error treatment for me, its hard to mix and match textures to match the mood, expression of the model. Thanks Sir for the generous comments, i'll use this as a motivation tool to learn new things and strive more into this craft.

Yes i'll burn a cd for you. See you soon! Ah Yes the Davao Workshop...i'll wait for the new thread.

Maraming Salamat!

Wow! expensive magazine:D Of course..maybe i could put up an tutorial for this but right now im just a newbie for textured portraits. I want to explore first what other things i could do to enchance this technique. Sir Manny is doing his expertise for years now and for me im just starting... so much to learn and do some experiments.

Based on my few experienced in texture portraits, there are suitable photos and not suitable for this. Kharus is somewhat suited for this and im afraid if i could do it also to other subjects.:(

Maybe you could start for shooting some textures like gritty walls , textured materials stuff like that, then you could use that to blend it to a particular photos, mostly i do multiply, hardlight, softlight, screen blend modes then several masking. Also the trick for this is you must have first a good photo to start with...this is the part where Sir Manny teach us how to achieve good emotive portraits, how to get a good light, how to capture good portraits.

and another thing you must know what you want... i mean you need to have a vision of the end result in your mind before you start it, at least basic as you experiment whats suited and whats not. Thank you for dropping by!:)
