Hello Marlon,

Got this lens but the earlier version. Havent used it that much but first impression is its tack sharp almost all througout, a little soft at 200. HSM is fast, Nice Finish. Yes its a 2.8, some reviews say it equals or even bests the 70-200 2.8L (non IS). Built like a tank so off course it weights like one too.

I guess the new model is a MACRO and has a DG designation (New glass coating supposedly to correct reflection off the sensors). But I think both would have similar performance optically.

Overall, I like its performance and would be keeping it. Until such time that i could afford its white cousin the 2.8 L IS anyway:)

Cheers:Grin:

hi marlon, i'm surprised you were able to find one for sale online -- i couldn't! this is the reason why the 50-200SWD still isn't in my hands hehehe. having been a 70-200 2.8L owner, i know the importance of a constant 2.8 with tele lenses. :D plus it's focal is perfect with my 12-60SWD :D my verdict on this piece of glass -- consider it! ;)

@dex - Its only preselling no stock available for 4/3 mount but I'm going to get one the day it becomes available!!! But your 50-200mm SWD is "Splach Proof" right I haven;t read about the Sigma being so??? It's not a problem for me coz I don't have an E-3!!! But at least I have time to work out, I read its almost 1kg. I just called around everyone says its 3weeks from now...
