Welcome to DPP, Louie :)

Keep shooting and maybe look around EB/Workshop threads for seminars or better yet join the 1st Alpha EB. Read the details on the said EB on First Sony EB thread. For now, point, shoot and post and get first-hand comments and critique from fellow DPP-ers. Enjoy your alpha!!!

Welcome Louie. Keep shooting, that's the best advice I can give to someone starting out, and it hold true for a lot of things. Keep shooting until you find out what aspects of photography really interests you. Once you have found your focus participate in seminars and read books that focus on that part of photography. Once you have done that, don't stop shooting, get creative, take inspiration from others and create/find your own style.

BTW, starting out can be exhaustive and expensive. Until you focus on a particular type of photography, your lens collection will grow...which means that your bank account will shrink! :D

Oh yeah...and have fun!
