Dunno where to put this, but anyway:

I got myself a new Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D AF lens recently. And I was wondering if the autofocus works on a Nikon D50? I dunno if there's something wrong with the lens or with the camera itself, but all I can only do with the lens is manual focus. Even both shutter and aperture-priority settings won't work. I followed the instruction stated on the manual (putting the aperture ring to the highest f-stop and pushing the lever lock into position), however, nada pa rin.

I noticed on the control panel that f-stop indicator keeps on blinking if set to the other shooting settings except for manual.

Hope you guys could help me on this one. Thanks :)

hi before you mount the lens. turn it to the minimum aperture (f22?) and lock it with the orange switch.

that's it!

yep, i did what you instructed, but still the same. now i'm thinking if there's something wrong with the mounting mechanism of the D50...

anyway, thanks :)

Check to make sure that the AF switch on the right side of the lens mount is set to AF not M.

thanks, but that too, to no avail. I think I did everything pero ganun pa rin. one thing i've noticed that the lens does not lock itself on the mount. two of my lenses, if mounted, produce a click sound, but this one does not.

Looks like the lens itself has a problem if it fails to lock while other lenses will...Time to go back to the store.

but then, i also think that there could be a problem with the camera din with the lens release button. parang hindi cia naglolock. when i mount the other two lenses, i normally twist them a little for them to lock on. saka ko lang maririnig ung click sound and the button to depress.

i might ship it back to BH na lang cguro :)

yep, the other lenses work properly. except for the slight nudge when mounting for them to lock.
