View Full Version : Opera House benji_balmoris 06-30-2008, 11:50 AM A different view of the Sydney Opera House. http://www.pbase.com/draegermd/image/99440919.jpg benjietiongco 06-30-2008, 01:22 PM This is what part? tembanaria 06-30-2008, 01:34 PM Looks like tiles to me.... coming from Circular Quay....... seems like.... Fercel_Tagaro 06-30-2008, 03:09 PM This is actually what the roof of the Sydney opera house looks like (you can only see it as White or plain from a far but it's really like this up close...):) benji_balmoris 06-30-2008, 03:18 PM Yup, Fercel is correct! :) Fercel_Tagaro 06-30-2008, 03:28 PM I like the way you focused your subject. I bet you took this at night??? Have you done some PPs here? Perhaps a more transparent sky would have make it better (plus, others won't view it as plain 'tile')... Cheers!:) cedrickuytanlet 06-30-2008, 08:02 PM i like it the way it is.. great shot! :) benji_balmoris 07-01-2008, 08:49 AM I like the way you focused your subject. I bet you took this at night??? Cheers!:) Perhaps but then I would lose the contrast. :) Thanks! benji_balmoris 07-01-2008, 08:50 AM i like it the way it is.. great shot! :) Thanks! Me too. :) Fercel_Tagaro 07-01-2008, 08:56 AM Perhaps but then I would lose the contrast. :) Thanks! I thought so as well, since you are in the 'Digital B&W' forum :D Post more of it in diff. angles :) jerrylee 07-01-2008, 09:21 AM http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1290/600093088_b11d0feaaf_o.jpg tembanaria 07-01-2008, 09:33 AM Yup, Fercel is correct! :) The roof???? really??, did not notice this up close or maybe did not really check out the material on the times when we visited. Very interesting and nice contrasty shot..... Very interesting and nice contrasty shot..... Yup. Check the image posted by Jerry, you see the lines on the roof? Those were the black/tile-look patterns taken by Benji :) Cheers! ReD Ognita 07-01-2008, 09:44 AM Hi benjie, I know that you're not asking for C&C, in fact the photo is good. I just noticed that what you're trying to achieve is a different view of the Sydney Opera House. If I may share my process, when I am trying to give a certain structure, place or things a different perspective, I make sure that the place is still identifiable to many. I might include key marks in the frame in a subtle way that the viewer will only recognize the place on a second look. But if my aim is abstract, the place plays a secondary role in the photo. I'll post a small photo wherein I tried to take a shot of the wall different from what I always see on posters and cards. http://www.ognita.com/images/bw.jpg In here, if I did not include the creeping wall between the gap, it could be easily mistaken as any other wall. But in doing so, the totality of the image is readily identifiable as the Great Wall. I hope you don't mind the unsolicited sharing :) tembanaria 07-01-2008, 09:45 AM Yup. Yup, noticed that now.... well, I guess one cant be too observant of details when overwhelmed but lots of sights to see.....:) Fercel_Tagaro 07-01-2008, 09:51 AM Yup, noticed that now.... well, I guess one cant be too observant of details when overwhelmed but lots of sights to see.....:) Yup yup... Jun Amuan 07-01-2008, 10:39 AM i hope the thread starter wont mind sharing my take of the Opera, which is more closer to the photo taken by jerrylee, just so to magnify a little bit the roof or the tiles used. http://www.pbase.com/singkit/image/78754916.jpg benji_balmoris 07-01-2008, 04:36 PM Hi benjie, I know that you're not asking for C&C, in fact the photo is good.
