Sounds like the photographer (Ordonez-Dawes) may be Filipino.

Good for her. In the Philippines, who will commercial /professional amateur photographers register their work with to ensure protection? :(

i worked for Canon Mktg. Phils. before law school. i think most of the people there don't know me anymore.

when the camera division started it was just me, my manager and a service supervisor.

the safest to go really is to have your shots copyrighted, and this goes even for amateur photographers. unfortunately, copyrights are not really respected in our country, and the implementation of the law is barely non-existent unless it concerns a big time company. it shouldnt be a deterrent though since photographers have all the right to their work, unless they signed a contract re their shots that theyre waiving their propriety rights over the shots as well. siguro for starters, watermarks should be used, and not just a simple imprint of a name, but maybe a logo or symbol that can only be attributed to the photographer himself.
