I recently install a Focusing screen in my 40D just wondering is this the cause of the lines in my photos?

Not all photos has lines, only few showed up.

Any advise? Is it in the camera sensor? the lens? do i need to bring it up to repair center?:(

Oh no. I hope thats not sensor, the focusing screen has no direct correlation to the image unless the installer damaged some circuits in the camera. I think you have to bring that to Canon...

It's the sensor. If you notice, the line occurs only in one area of the image.

Joel, I assume you did not crop, then resize any of these pictures to 3888 pixels wide dimensions.

It may likely be caused by something reflecting on the sensor (could it be the focusing screen?). I measured the line locations onscreen and they seem to be at different locations. In the top picture, the red line is located about 72.5 mm from the bottom. In the bottom picture, it is at about 75mm from the bottom. (PS: the distance changes, depending on your screen size)

Is there a way for you to detach the focusing screen and restore to factory build? If so, you make want to take a few shots without the focusing screen, just to test my hypothesis.

Worst, it may be caused by the action in your shutter plane -- such as, dirt lodging on part of the shutter plane, which caused the streaking onto the sensor filter when the shutter opens and closes.

Edit: The photos that do not show the lines, at what aperture settings were they taken? The above pics show at least an f/9 setting.

@Nino - Thanks for the reply, if its in the sensor, all photos should have a red lines but among 500 shots i only encountered 3 or 4 photos has lines on the images. Maybe i should try to use other lens in my 40D and test.... but for sure need to bring this up to repair center.

@Bernie- Canon repair center installed my focusing screen, im just curious about it coz this is the first time i encountered such lines in my photos...

@Dan- thanks for giving a look at this..probably i dont want to pull out the focusing screen by myself.. = ( what keeping me curious is why only 4 shots has lines out of 500 shots... its not that hassle for now but what if a very important shot pop and to check it has a red line on it..that would be a disaster...
