Here's sharing a few avian creatures that don't look exactly very pretty to me. It appears that Mother Evolution was not sure whether to take a right or left turn when she created these. ....

1. White-Bellied Woodpecker, 350D + Sigmonster

Hi Romy,

Just wanna say, I really enjoy looking at your birds...

I wish we can really, really protect our forests so that future generations will see these in person rather than just pictures.

Great shots Romy! We were at OWG last night talking about you. We're very proud of you that you were featured in the Photograpy Mag, and your contribution of the 'Sigmonster' moniker!

High praises to you! Hope to meet you one day!

I never knew that birds as beautiful and strange as these actually existed in the Philippines. You learn someting new every day. Great work Romy!

Marlon, I just toured a visiting Canadian nature shooter at Subic rainforest. After three straight days of hard work, we got a few captures. Now, he knows how hard it is to work Philippine wild birds (these are few and shy because of hunting/trapping pressure), unlike many North American birds which can be approached in parks. He went home more appreciative of our photos, realizing it took thousands of hours and countless miles of trekking to get these....

Floyd, yes these are wild birds in our islands. We have close to 600 species, and almost a third are endemic or found only in the Philippines.
