The Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de
Manila University (ACFJ) is offering 10 scholarship grants for the
Diploma in Photojournalism, a five-month interactive online learning
program which begins in November.
The ACFJ Photojournalism Scholarships support the continuing education
of Filipino photographers and journalists with manifest ability to
lead, excel and contribute in the field of photojournalism. Five full
scholarships will cover tuition, travel, books and miscellaneous
expenses, and another five will cover tuition and travel costs.
To qualify for the scholarships, applicants must be a citizen and
resident of the Philippines, not more than 35 years of age, and has at
least one year experience as a fulltime photojournalist, photographer
or journalist. He or she must also have met the requirements for admission
to the photojournalism program.
A joint project of ACFJ and the World Press Photo, the Diploma in
Photojournalism aims to raise the bar of photojournalism in the
country by providing comprehensive training primarily to working
photojournalists. The Netherlands-based World Press Photo is the
world's leading venue for competitions and training in professional
press photography.
The five-month diploma program aims to endow students with a mastery
of the photographic, visual and newsgathering principles and skills as
well as the ethical foundations of photojournalism. The curriculum
consists of three core courses, at least three electives and a final
output – a portfolio of pictures of professional quality.
Applications for admission and scholarships are available from the
downloads page of http://acfj.ateneo.edu (http://acfj.ateneo.edu/) or through
newsroom@admu.edu.ph. Deadline is 31 October 2006.
Established in 2006 by Ateneo de Manila University and the Konrad
Adenauer Foundation, ACFJ is dedicated to the continuing professional
training of Asian journalists. It has pioneered the use of an
interactive online learning system to deliver journalism training,
including the M.A. Journalism, to news professionals in the region.

I saw the forms emailed to me yesterday, the program is very interesting. I just hope it'll fit my schedule. Tammy did you take the course as well? How was it? Any pointers?
Thanks.

I think most of the classes are online and if ever you have to show up for class, once a week.
It's going to be offered for the first time this semester and as much as I want to sign up for a scholarship (they're offering 10) I'm not qualified since I have no experience as a full time photographer.
A couple of friends/mentors will be teaching including Bahaghari aka Richard De Guzman, Mr. Jimmy Domingo and PDI's chief Ernie Sarmiento. Pretty all-star
