ey dex, i suggest you bring your camera to canon/columbia to have it cleaned and checked. let'S hope that if may replacements, very minimal lang. if you have a canon, i believe closed circuit sya pag turn off mo, i just doubt your nikon is kasi naka on pa top lcd nya kahit off. well let's hope for the best.

im so sorry to hear this dexter, ive lost some stuff before also sa baha and nakapanghihinayang talaga ang pakirmdam.....the camera you might need to bring to canon phils. theyll be able to fix that no problem although you might have to shell out a substantial amount. the lenses if theyre canon you can also bring to them....the sigma flash im not sure, you can try and bring it to JTPhoto since i think theyre the official distributor of sigma items they might be able to help you with sending it for repair.

again im so sorry to hear that this happened to you.....

Dexter, If you have a Canon bring it to the Canon service center. Wala ng warranty yan, but at least you get the to service it at an authorized center, even if you have to pay. I doubt, any brand or store will give you anything free considering the circumstances your camera has suffered. I am truly sorry to hear your situation. As of this writing, I hope you have sent it to canon.

i'm not sure about this but with all kinds of insurance i pay for, anything caused by mother nature such as typhoon, earthquake, etc. is not covered by warranty.

best scenario is that it's fixable. i'm so sorry for what happened to your gear.

Well something similar happened to a friend's DSLR, but with salt water and was under water, lens and all for about < 1 minute. fell off the bangka, started to sink, and on the way to the bottom, some 5 feet deep, some brave soul dove in (middle of the sea) to rescue the cam.

yes, he had to spend almost close to half that price for lens, and body repair, as the salt water was not good for the gear. it almost took 2 hours to get to shore for the nearest clean water, blower and dryer. now if your situation is way more than that entire traumatic event, your guess is as good as mine. Specially "babad" sa tubig at putik.

i can empathize with you, my friend was crying on the way to shore.:(

i'm no authority on this, but better bring it tomorrow. wait no longer.

that's sad bro...

as Derick has said, bring it to Canon tomorrow... it should have been brought at the earliest time possible to avoid further damage as the water dried up and leaves residues...

good luck...

Hi Dexter, I have a friend who specializes in restoring all kinds of stuff from floods. Including recovering electronics and hard drives from water damage. I don't want to get your hopes up, but we'll see what can be done to save some of your equipment. I'll send you a PM asap.

Dexter sorry to hear about your situation. For future reference (pero sana di mangyari ulit) and for the other forumers, when electronics gets soaked the first thing to do is remove all power sources (plugs, batteries) then dry it completey. Hindi lang yung taktak at patuyo sa araw, complete disassembly (thats why its best to bring it to the service center ASAP). This will ensure that you have the best chance of reviving the device.

My officemate also got his camera bag soaked in milenyo (Lumix FZ-20 and Nikon SB22 flash). It was underwater for hours. When he fished it out of the flood he immediately did the steps above (disassembled it himself and called panasonic for advice). After cleaning and drying everything for four days he was able to revive both the camera and flash. He only suffered the loss of 1 battery that shorted out.

I hope Amiel's friend can help you revive the camera. Even if it doesnt work out dont lose hope things have a way of turing around.

Dexter,
Go to Canon D-Zone stores. They have a 0-Interest for 12 months on any model of Canon cameras. In fact, that was how I was able to afford to get a second Canon 30D camera for myself.
Good Luck.

Dexter,
The sad part is that the cameras are more expensive in Canon D-Zone than the ones being sold in Hidalgo. The good part is that the ones being sold in Canon D-Zone,you can pay them thru your credit card with a 12 month 0-interest.By the way, when I canvassed for a Canon 30D body at Henry's,they quoted me at 65,000.00 Pesos. While at Canon D-Zone,they quoted me at 70,000.00.With a 5,000.00 Pesos price difference,I decided to go with the 12 month 0-interest even if it was a bit. more expensive. At least,I didn't have to shell out a lot of cash right away.By thw way,you can find a Canon D-Zone store at the Glorietta 3,Makati(3RD Floor-Near Fridays). If I am not mistaken, they also have a branch in the Great Mall Of Asia.
