It's a combination... But it is Solidly built and Chunky... Supports 62mm filter threads and has a bronze ring to it... It's a G lens so no aperture ring... Basta Malufet! It looks good and takes good-excellent pictures. :Grin:

Had the same dilemma before... But I went for the New 105 Micro VR. :)

same thing, i know i have it but it's really a well built lens and very sharp, plus i haven't experimented yet but i think it would also be very good for portraits :)

It does extremely well in portraits! :D It can even mimic the 85 f/1.4 when it comes to those magical shots...

The new plastics are fine as long as they are ED. The ED or extra low dispersion will make the lens superior to the older lenses. Plus the 105mm is the standard for portraiture so the 105 macro also doubles as a portrait lens. siempre naiinggit ako.

yup but i still have the 105 F/2.5 from the old school days . . . although not macro but very good for portraits :)
