as one of the pioneers in digital imaging I think Sony is the only company which manufactures infrared flash, and it works well with both still and video cameras
I'll try to post some test shots using my SOny IR Flash

will keep an eye on this thread...please do post your sample images. Are the IR flash compatible with the alpha series or just P&S cameras? I am actually experimenting with IR flashlights but I find that the range they offer (eventhough it is always on) is mostly very limited.

is this kind of photography where the subject turns into this eerie pale white color? :) like for landscape where the trees and earth turn white?

No need for a special flash for that.... just a sunny day and a IR filter. Or a H9/H50 with an ND8 and IR72 and switch on Nightshot.
Oh, and it can see through some clothes...

Does anyone care to share the procedure on how to capture an infrared photo using the alpha? Is it possible using a standard and non-modified Sony alpha? Thanks

Standard is possible, but you'd need a long exposure, like 20-30 seconds.
Just slap on the IR filter, find a nice bright green patch of grass on a sunny day and set custom WB.
