..Close to nature, closer to God.

I'm not quite sure if I got my exposures right. Oh well, enjoy Caleruega anyway.

CC's are welcome.

Sharing is fun.

I like the fun part.

That's not my point, Sam... One critique requestor per thread is the norm... the thread starter requests for critique on his photos, if anyone else wants to share a photo for critique, you should start another thread, that's what I meant.

the photos are nice but i think you have to focus more on composition. they're a bit messy to me.

sorry bout that sir david... i guess we just got too excited since most of us who already got there really wanted to share some of our shots, and we didn't even realize that this was a critique gallery after all..

well, sir sam, how about we start a new thread wherein we could share our caleruega shots??:):):)

You can piggy back on Joel's thread http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=11121

Or Ogie's thread http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=300

Or just start a new one in the Travel/Landscape section :)

Hi! Werner..this is a repost. I had composed the chapel to be on the lower right and bounded it with a lot of dark foliage (almost silhouette), to give emphasis to my subject. That way, we eliminate too many subjects competing each other in our photo.

I saw that you had an upright shot of the chapel. I also did the same but used polarizing filter to render the sky blue. Yours was blank and white.

Werner, you had a shot of the garden with the statue on it. It was simple snapshot. What I did was go to the statue behind it, composed it on the left and made this shot:

You had a shot of the staircase upfront, perhaps attempting to capture some symmetry. But it somehow failed to do that. Anyway, I shot on another angle to get the shadows give some perspective to my picture:

looks like a nice place.

i think some photos like the line of trees and stone steps could've been better if you gave them some more perspective like the bridge shot :)

thanks guys.. and sam, i like your shots using filters.

but at this point im still learning. at the time i took those shots, i had no idea how to use filters. so i was merely trying to learn composition thru trial and error.

to make things worse.. my DSLR kit was damaged beyond repair recently and i have yet to replace it with a new unit. :(

Oh, noooo! What a pity!

Maybe you could share that unfortunate event so we could learn from your experience?

Well, to put it simply, make sure your camera (film or digital) does not take a dive into salt water. I have used my Nikon D40x several times on trips to the beach and it was fine (no contact with salt water). Except in Punta Fuego in Batangas where i stepped on very soft sand and the waves hitting me caused me to lose balance and there you go.

The Technician I talked to said that as soon as I got out of the water I should have rinsed the camera in fresh water to get the salt out. Otherwise, corrosion sets in, spreads, and short circuit everything. Even then, it does not guarantee that the camera would be fine. My SD card died the day after. It's a good thing I was able to transfer the files to PC before it did.

Right now, I'm contemplating getting a Nikon F75 (N75) Film SLR. I just thought I might try film for a change before I eventually buy a new Digital SLR sometime in the near future. If our Fathers and Grandfathers were able to produce great pictures with film, why not us?!

In any case, good luck..

For the first set..

The 2nd shot would have been great if stairway steps were included at the lower part of the image..

Just my me!
