This seems to be the news in Photokina 2006.
With Hasselblad coming out with its H3D and Franke & Heidecke with its Rolleiflex Hy6 system, the camera wars are moving up to the medium format arena.
The Hasselblad H3D (http://www.hasselblad.com/promotion/h3d.aspx) is a closed system and would only take Hasselblad backs. This is a major change from the H2D and previous models, which could take backs from other manufacturers.
In contrast, Franke & Heidecke (makers of Rolleiflex) is coming out with the Rolleiflex Hy6, an open system. Leaf and Sinar already have demo units at Photokina and Phase One is also joining the party. This as news of Leica's acquisition of Sinar hit the media.
Here's a report on Luminous Landscape. (http://luminous-landscape.com/photokina/medium-format-report.shtml)
Since there are quite a number of pros here, I wonder what your thoughts are on this subject.
