Good afternoon Site Administrator/s

May i just take a moment to draw your attention to the Usernames that have since joined up on the site. Considering that first names and surnames are not as distinct as i thought they were, may i suggest, as sampled during registration, that first names or nicknames be separated from surnames by an underscore.

Some registered usernames are written continuously without any underscore between first name and surname such that sometimes it is difficult for me to determine where exactly the firstname / nickname ends and where the surname begins.

In my humble opinion, in the interest of transparency and uniformity a single standard should be followed.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts on this matter. More power to the group

Martin,

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. We will post the rule that users should split their first and last names when they register. If not, we will give them an email and private message. Our only problem in the short term now is for members who have already registered without splitting their names. Nino, will have his work cut out for him. If we split the names from our side, these users will not be able to log on to the site with their same password. We will be emailing them and this may take some time before everything is corrected.

Thanks for your suggestion. We will make this our standard.

is it possible to use the username instead of the real name? i know some people abuse the internet for having only the username shown, but this site CAN require the members to provide their real name in their profile. i like to be known by my username in all forums and if that's possible i would be very happy to use again my username.

btw, congrats for the admin for creating this site. very nice layout and color, professional looking!

I'd like to point out that there have been some that have registered using their names but the first name is only the initial, only the last name is full. Just fyi. :)

For Rosalie and Nat,

We fully intend to follow our rule of using your first and last names as the user name. We dwelt on this considerably and decided that it would be better for everyone in the forum in the long run to know who they are communicating with. We will stick with our rules. The only problem we have is that many new members for some reason, just don't read rules. We have been emailing individuals about this and most have responded. We're on top of this and will commit with using first and last names as part of this forum.

Hopefully those new members who just signed up read this and send me a PM to correct their usernames.

Thank you for your comments.

Good afternoon once again...

Still there are members who don't follow rules. I hope this point is still not moot as compliance with the rules become all the more important as the membership numbers grow. I believe the rule on names is seemingly so trivial, however, experience will tell us that big problems have humble beginnings.

So sorry to bother you with this.

Just airing my observation.

we did notice that some members are not using their real names. they normally are given a week to comply (since I email them immediately that it is required to have their real names). After a week, accounts do get frozen until they comply.

It is easy to miss out on some of the requirements of the forum, I myself missed out on the tidbit of information about first and last names until Nino sent me a PM.

Some forums require profiles to be approved by the moderator / admistrators before being able to post messages. It might mean more work but it does ensure consistency.

Just my thoughts.

Good inputs Paul. I'll wait for Nick's feedback on this. Maybe we can implement this.
