View Full Version : getting out of europe
christopher cortez 09-28-2006, 01:13 AM hey guys.
madami dito nagdala na ng slr mila sa europe.
from the signs at the airport and their site sa internet it says that if you bring in gear more than £145, you need to go and declare your stuff, obviously youll need to pay duties and taxes for those.....now i managed to get through with no problems whatsoever, not checked or anything.
now next question, getting out of europe, will i be searched? Im bringing the camera as hand carry by the way.
Did you guys do anything special so you dont get charged bringing out your gear?
thanks.
Nick_Espino 09-28-2006, 03:40 AM I am constantly searched every time I fly out of Frankfurt, with or without a camera. I swear, I can walk naked through their metal detertor and the damn thing would still beep. :)
Your camera will be scanned as usual, but hey won't take it away from you nor will they make you pay any duties.
arnel_murillo 09-28-2006, 06:08 AM No problem, i've tried to exit in london, paris, and amsterdam never had problems not even check, i have with me either 2 or 3 pro dslr and a medium format complete with their lenses whenever i travel to europe. :)
James Rosca 09-28-2006, 07:10 AM Just as long the quantity your bringing is not many. For one or two pieces i don't think they will bother youy but if the items is a lot then I am sure they will question. And if your a foreigner you also get Duty Free which you can claim in the airport just make sure you have the reciept and you reach the minimum value
Pilar Tuason 09-28-2006, 09:05 AM I just arrived a few days ago from Spain. I also had a stopover in Amsterdam. No they did not hassle me or question the weight I was carrying with me on my hand carry eveb if there is a hand carry limit of 7kilos i think. Make sure that the size of your hand carrry is not biggeer than the standard size alloted. Don't look like you are struggling with the wight so that they don't question the weight of the bag. Don't place any questionable items inside such as sharp objects so as not to call their attention to you.
If they do harass you, you can always say " ayyy noooo issspeeeeakkkyyy iiiinnglisssss!!!" hehehehehe:D
Raffy Crucillo 09-28-2006, 09:18 AM Chris, I think you wouldn't have a problem bringing your gear out of Europe (if tax is your concern).... You might have a problem with our customs. Did you bring your camera receipt (when you purchased it here)?
And similar to Pilar's suggestion... use Kanto language so they won;t know what the hell you're saying. Try this phrase "ko-a di asalit glesing!"
christopher cortez 09-28-2006, 03:26 PM ok damnit i forgot to bring the receipts with me hehehe....i should try to scan it and print it all out on 1 paper next time....thanks guys for the tips!!
