Yes, TJ... posted something similar in this (http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=1291) thread, replying to a post. mmmmmmm... so it means that the D2X' one is drawing near. YEY!
zandy_marantal 09-27-2006, 09:27 AM The English one is already available.
I updated mine this morning. Didn't notice any difference though in terms of handling and IQ
Carlo R. Lopez 09-27-2006, 10:03 AM will download mine this evening:)
john_villavicencio 09-27-2006, 10:15 AM here's a direct link to the firmware update

Rolando Avecilla 09-27-2006, 10:39 AM IMHO, it's not worth it... I will update when a more serious update is available.

what exactly is updated?
Earl Gonzalez 09-27-2006, 10:58 AM what exactly is updated?
The update only adopts the D2Xs "Image authentication" option in the setup menu. As well as support for the optional Wireless Transmitter WT-3.
Rolando Avecilla 09-27-2006, 10:59 AM As per the site, the firmare was updated to include support for the wireless connection and the image authentication which requires or is only useable if you buy another gadgets.
In short, the update is nothing you can use on daily basis.

true true thanks
rosalie_gomez 09-28-2006, 09:51 AM Checked it out this morning... decided not to update mine since no plans of buying either the Image Authentication Software or the WT-3. :)

quite true!
Daniel Tan 10-02-2006, 12:44 AM Nikon have been known to use upgrades to introduce undocumented fixes with firmware upgrades. The change from 1.0 to 2.0 suggests that it is a major upgrade.
The fact that Sigma lenses now work correctly on d200 is an example.
The improved focussing on the last D70 upgrade is another.
Install it and move on.....
zandy_marantal 10-02-2006, 02:14 AM Exactly my thoughts Daniel. I don't know what other fixes it contains but it makes me feel better to have the latest and greatest.
Eric Dino 10-02-2006, 03:16 AM Hi Rolly,
Eric the Preacher here. I agree with Daniel. Whatever happened to your banding problem? If it is not yet fixed, maybe this is one of the solutions you have been looking for. You have nothing to lose. Give Nikon the benefit of the doubt companero. Best Regards.
Rolando Avecilla 10-03-2006, 03:03 PM Hey, Eric!
Sure... banding is still there, but it doesn't bothers me. And I am not just givin Nikon the "Benefit of the Doubt"... I am giving it to them with my eyes closed. :) So when they officially said that the short banding is within specs, I took their words for it. And I've learned to avoid it when shooting. So thanks for the reminder.
@Mr. Tan... The addition of the support for WT3 and the Authentication thing in the firmware are enough to consider it a major update. Thus, it deserved to be called Version 2.0.
You nailed it sir when you said UNDOCUMENTED. This could mean that the fix is not final or official, but a beta of some sort... If it is the REAL thing, then Nikon will tell us about it. Just like how they did it with the Nikon D70. Among the tweaks, they explicitly said that the focusing was tweaked to be faster. I am afraid that undocumented tweaks may have undocumented problems.
Anyway sir, did you update yours? Please share the changes you've noticed. Please check if the banding was fixed too. Thanks.
@all... You can surely update your firmware. Nothing is keeping you from deciding on your own.
As for me, I will wait for another update release. :D

Earl Gonzalez 10-03-2006, 03:06 PM True... True... They sometimes sneak in some stuffs during firmware thinges... Undocumented would be an appropriate term. :)
Rolando Avecilla 10-04-2006, 09:40 AM Well, I took the liberty and I confirmed the facts with Nikon... and below is what they have to say:
HI
Thanks for the question. Every update includes many. many small changes but we only document the major or important changes. Hope this helps.
-DavidThanks for using Nikon products!

With these said, okay, I will close my eyes and update! :D
