Im planning to sell my nikkor 18-135 for a Sigma 28-300mm.
Is this a good plan for a walk around lens? I love to have a 300 zoom lens. but are there any issues regarding this sigma?

Hi Alain i wont recommend this lens. Soft specially from 150 up. Not as sharp as the nikon lenses and color not as good. If you want reach I suggest you look into the Nikon 18-200mm Vr or keep the kit lens and add a 70-300mm Vr.

thanks alan. im thinking of getting a sigma apo dg 70-300 macro, how about this one? Nikon lenses are too expensive for me so im opting for a third party lens.

two of my friends have this lens (28-300) one nikon and canon...both are not happy with it...you are better off with a 18-135.

It's actually nice if you're always lazy to change lenses (like me). I don't have any problems with the sharpness. I guess I just got a really good copy.

It is always better to enjoy the lens you have at the moment than investing in a cheap lens. You will always end up selling these lenses later and buying the real one later but of course at a loss.
