Hi!

Kinda new to this site and this is my very first post in the critique forum. I really want to improve on my shots and I figured finally posting here would help me out a lot.

A short intro on the shot. I took this after taking some shots of the merlion here in Singapore. I was heading for my school already when i saw the view from beneath two bridges right beside the merlion park. I liked what I saw so I decided to take a shot of it.

I don't really know how to edit pictures so just minor changes in the saturation if I remember correctly. Oh well.. Thanks in advance, guys!

i'm biased because i like contrasts especially with colors - the bold blue of the sky and the orange that ran the span of the bridges made the photo work. foreground although darkened showed details paired with interesting red orange highlights and contrasted the bright blue of the background which also led my eyes to the fading blue/indigo to this almost hazy hint of a city skyline.

You made a good call on your opening which showed just the right amount of detail in the foreground and showed great detail in the outlines of the bridge.

Thanks, lally! I actually shot this at f/4.5 using iso800. I don't really have a tripod yet so I used a bigger aperture. I was still new to my camera then and I had just started playing around in manual mode. Depth of field didn't really enter my mind then. I guess I got lucky that this view presented itself to me! Hahaha!

I appreciate the sky and the composition ... I felt a bit more light or lighter contrast to show some more detail would be also ok. Just my two cents : )

I'm planning to go back to the merlion park week before my finals. I'll try getting a similar shot of the same subject and try to get more detail of what's beneath the bridge! :)

I like your composition and the contrast of colors and shadows. I also like how blue the sky is and how it fades to indigo. Nice work!

Thanks, gian! The weather that day was just perfect! I only tweaked the saturation a bit to get more blue into the sky. :)
