Hi Winston!
If only I'm in the Philippines, I would really join you guys for the Moriones Festival. I'm sure you'll have loads of fun shooting this event like what we had in the Ati-atihan. I just wish you'll have nice sunny climate this time.

Thanks for the updates, Dan. Over and beyond the call of duty na yan. :)

I just realized that some people might think they can't join because the trip starts Tuesday night. If you can't get out of office, you're very welcome to follow.

Maybe you can leave on Maundy Thursday instead or late Wednesday night after office? Please contact me at 0917 327 1106 and I’ll make arrangements on how we can hook up in Marinduque.

Lots of space still available for you to stay with us!

Let me try to answer this.

The festival is actually a series of activities that starts on Palm Sunday and culminates in Easter Sunday. I understand that events have already been scheduled in all the six towns -- some happenig simultaneously, some, in alternate sequence. In summary, that's eight (8) days of events happenning in various venues.

If you're commuting, the bus if 520p from the Jac Liner terminal to Marinduque. If you're bringing a car, aside from the gas, the Ro-Ro from Lucena to Marinduque is around 1,800p.

Lodging if free, thanks to the graciousness of Dan Pagulayan.

Other costs, transportation on the island, food, etc. is probably minimal.

Yep, yep, it will be fun! :)

Door-to-Door Delivery: These are Vans that pick up people from their houses and bring them to their final destination in Marinduque (in this case, the White House in Laylay, Boac).

There are a number of them in Metro Manila Cost is P600/head. Due to the expected surge in passenger traffic next week, there is no fixed schedule -- the schedule being dictated partly by the departure times of the Roro in Lucena, and the stamina of the Door-to-door driver (during lent, they sometimes do two trips a day).

The roro's departure times at Lucena will likewise be flexible -- it leaves port as soon as it is full. By next week, one could expect departure every 2-3 hours, 24 hours a day. If more roros are fielded (which is likely), then the waiting time between trips is shorter.

Contact numbers of two who I talked to:
1. Driver Antonio: 0910-553-1662
2. Driver Michael: 0919-886-3692

Thanks.

Winston,

Wednesday roro schedule for ships bound for Marndique (from Lucena) is as follows:

12 Midnight
2 AM
12 Noon
4 PM

If you're leaving Wednesday night, you'll likely get to Lucena by early morning of Thursday. By that time, the sailing scheds may already be made flexible -- e,g, roros leave port as soon as they're full.

For more info, you may call Montenegro Lines (Lucena City) at 042-373-7084.

hey, marinduque is a nice place and the moriones festival is very colorful......i should know, i'm from there

but it's sad that we can't go home this holy week, enjoy your stay guys!

watch out: if you're bringing your own vehicle this time of year, you'll have a difficulty riding the ferry.....too many people in line

Thanks for the info. If we get to Lucena at 1am, do you think it will be difficult to get on the 2am ferry?

Joel, looking forward to seeing your Donsol photos.
