This is my first post here in the critique gallery.

I'm a freshie here so I think I should introduce myself first. I was just a hobbyist back in 2005 using a point and shoot Canon Powershot A80, two years later I bought the Powershot S3 IS. That's when I started doing some shoots for some friends, then for a friend's family business. July of 2007 a friend allowed me to use and borrow his Nikon D80 for some trips and shoots, that's what I've been using. So that's roughly eight months from using the DSLR. So there.

I wanna share this shot from Banaue, Ifugao to read some of your C&C. This is a repost from a thread that I started telling the story of my Banaue-Sagada trip last January.

I wanna read some C&C to improve my photography.

Mrs. Helen Aguian

Her family owns a part of the Banaue Rice Terraces. I saw her cleaning the view deck grounds alone. There were no staff or hired people to take care of the place. Just her and her husband. She's holding her broom here.

The sky was dark with thick clouds. The sun is nowhere to be seen.

I used a Nikon D80 with it's kit lens, the 18-135.
Exif: ISO 800, 1/250, F7.1
PP: Saturation +10 with a little nudge to the left on the levels to make it a little brighter.

More portraits for C&C next time. Thanks!

My 2 cents,

Looks a bit noisy, a little too dark and the shadows blown out a bit.

Overall, good composition.

I agree with sir Allan on this. What's the actual size of the photo? Sometimes the image gets too noisy/sharp when resizing.

Overall, I love it.

thank you allan and anwar.

the actual size is 1944x2896. yup. the resizing caused the noise. i'm looking at the shot now, comparing it with this uploaded photo. there is a huge difference. the uploaded one is too noisy.

so i have a question. how do i resize a photo but avoid the unwanted noise?

@ benjie, you may try using power toys - image resizer. It's a cool addon from Microsoft. You just need to right click a file / group of files of images and the resize option will be available. Easy to use without distorting your image.
