This brings back memories of my OM-1n and 50mm Zuiko. I still have this venerable pair but having passed the age where life begins I cannot focus accurately without dioptric correction. I guess this lens and the E-420 (http://www.popphoto.com/cameras/5164/hands-on-olympus-e-420.html) must be one of the best combinations for street photography a la Henri Cartier-Bresson (http://www.e-photobooks.com/cartier-bresson/decisive-moment.html).

some new samples of the e420 and the pancake lens HERE (http://fourthirds-user.com/2008/03/initial_e420_and_dz_25mm_pancake_samples.php)...th e results are pretty good to me,if only they shot the samples on a sunny day(it would be much better) : )

hi guys! excuse me, just a newbie question here...but what's so special about the pancake lens..would the shots i would get using this lens be better than when using the e510 lens kit? or, is this lens good for the e420 only? thanks...

@maribel,
aside from the small size of the pancake lens, it is a prime lens. prime lenses are known to give sharper images since they are built with high quality optics. this lens can also be used with other evolt models.

@maribele, for me it's just small and light. perfect if you carry your camera with you everyday (like me). :D though the 14-42 is small and light enough already.

Hi Maribel! To add further... This pancake lens' focal length is 25mm... Taking into consideration Olympus' crop factor which is 2x, one would get a 50mm effective focal length (35mm film equivalent)... Also, 50mm is called normal lens, a field of view you would normally see with your eye... Just my 2 cents...:)
