Hi guys, where are your favorite spots for photo trips? Baka kasi magkaroon kami dito sa office namin and we'd like to put together a list of choices. Thanks to sir Jay for the encouragement in putting this topic up as a new thread. :)

welcome angelo!

there are plenty of spots around manila. what is this outing for? is this a company outing or a company photography outing?

here are some ideas.

batangas.

caleruega. if its a small group, nice photo opportunity here. has entrance fees pero worth it naman. nice gardens and small church (popular with intimate weddings).

nasugbo/matabungkay. beach. but summer is still months away.

laguna.

majayjay falls. perfect for picnics and has relatively large waterfalls. easy also, even for non-hikers. dami lang tao pag weekends and holidays.

UPLB campus. ah yes...perfect for long walks and for that fresh air. has lots of flora and fauna. macro photography haven. free pa! go to the nursery! and visit the mudsprings! i usually go off-trail for that really wild adventure....dami chameleons and iguanas dyan!

zambales.

anawangin. perfect white sand cove and pine trees! no resorts pero what you lack in amenities, you make up for a truly pristine outdoor experience.

capones island. island. white sands. light house. bring the bikinis!

masinloc. daming spots. kung interested ka i can look it up for you.

rizal.

wawa dam and gorge. medyo gasgas nga lang.

avilon zoo. nice!

o yan muna for now bro! :):):)

Nice! Thanks sir Jay! In a way, its an informal company photo outing. UPLB and and Majayjay Falls sound good. We'd like Capones island too pero di na sasama girls namin kung ganon. Hehehe

Sige sir, post lang kayo pag merong outing for DPP peeps! :)

angelo, may gf owns a farm/camp site in Pililia, Rizal. Nice spot to take pics. u also get a view of laguna de bay. her parents are actually inviting painters to come over to the place to paint. i think one day accomo with 3 full meals and two snacks will cost you P1,100 tops. may rooms pa na aircon.

Jay,

so about the gear.. My friends and i were planning for a trip to Manabo last summer but as weather had it, hindi kami natuloy =b I do have some mountaineering attire which i use for as a everyday wear since it's comfortable, but the physical fitness may be in question.. =b (READ: PMA)

anyway, hope you could share a few tips on mountaineering and photography =)

ANYWAY

After reading the 4th issue, I really really want to go to Batanes. That's my dream PHOTO trip. Anybody knows the "begginer on a budget guide" to Batanes?

Anyway so far my favorite photo trip place (besides popular pick Maynila) is Siem Reap, Cambodia.

I have an eerie experience shooting at UPLB especially at the Scout Woodbadge Area, the place actually a pine grove very nice for intimate picnics and I can say very inspirational for "Inspirational Posters" style of photography. As I found a nice spot where beams of morning sunlight cuts diagonally through the thicket of the grove, I took a first a shot, dang! I saw nothing in the LCD except some blotty weird images, I just thought something was wrong with the LCD so I test shot from a different area that looks normal and the image from the LCD looks normal and ok so I went back to that spot and attempt another shot...no good! Another one...no good pa rin!! 'til six times and the crickets grew louder and louder. I decided to pack up and drive away. I hope my wife still has the images back in the Phils.

Wow! =) that is creepy! care to share the photos?

We have a similar experience shooting in the underground river in palawan. in of the stalactite we were randomly shooting with our P&S. a figure of a person appeared seemingly peering through the stalactites as though observing through somesort of window... we didn't notice it until we uploaded it into the laptop. upon closer inspection, we found two more figures... Yikes =b

we have two photos of that stalactite, one was while we were approaching the said stalactite where the figure wasn't as prominent then, as if pasilip pa lang siya sa bintana and the other one where his face was in full view

Hi Tammy,

If you want to go to Batanes, just let me know. I'm from Sabtang, and I can help you around. Any time of the year is best.

Oh, and Niel is from Ivana. His dad can help.

By the way, the bulk of the expense going to Batanes is the fare. Round trip air fare is already Php11,000.00. And 4 days is short for a dedicated photographer.

Keep on shooting...!

hi sir tok!

im sorry for the delayed reply. i just came from a 3-day hike with my club sa mountain province tapos traverse to ifugao via mt. amuyao.

weather was bad. as in really frustrating for photography. it was moist all the time, condesation formed on my cam, it was raining while we were trekking. all the same i was shooting and shooting. ang hirap! especially inside those mossy forests, sobrang hand-held lowlight shots na ako at ISO 800, minsan 1600 na. i must say hardcore adventure photography in the cruel mountains of the philippines is not for the weak of heart. there were so many times i wanted to break down...kahit 3rd time ko na ito in as many years up this very difficult mountain.

i just try to keep my cam in a lowepro top load Z, the smallest type lang. naka-carabiner to my backpacks's harness. inside the lowepro bag, my cam is wrapped in a simple plastic bag with lots of silica. i also keep a big hanky which i use to wipe the lens free of condensation. that's it. i brought a 28-200 but most of the time i just kept the 18-55 on. i might be so uncaring on my gear, but hey, getting the photos is the thing and that's the main point why i got the cam. what use if im gonna baby it all the time, right. (tsaka under warrranty pa naman :D)

anyhow, mountaineering photography is just like underwater photog in the sense na both are adventure type of shoots requiring special skills and whatnot under harsh conditions. excellent physical condition and training is really requisite pag major climb na. i was running once a week, 5K, before this climb and still, sobra pa rin ako nahirapan. i must be getting older....

i'll try to post some photos as well as share my insights further in a separate post!

p.s.

i am walking around the office with a trekking pole right now. damn stiff thigh muscles... :(

i hope this response is not late for RUEL...

tagaytay is the best place. you can do a lot, from picnic grove to peak place. then from tall vista down to taal lake, etc.. etc..

tammy is right, Amadeo is one of the places for coffee or kapihan, yun bang sinasabi nila na yung dumi ng alamid eh kinukuha nila to produce high quality coffee. mahal na coffee in other words. but aside from that, the neighbor towns like Alfonso, Indang, Mendez plus the Silang area are also into coffees and other agricultural products (para na kong nagbenta ng place nmin ha ha ha)

there's also Island Cove Resort in Binakayan, beside Bacoor just few minutes away from Las Pinas. fishing, fabulous resto and recreational area are in there.

Caylabne Resort, Golf Courses, etc... a lot actually, then, let me know when and i can tell how to visit those places.
