The distinct ability of photography is being able to freeze a moment in time. For sports and action photography, this can spell the difference between winning and losing.
In the furious flurry of movement always associated with sports and action, you blink and you do miss the decisive moment. Photos can captures the split second the spectators wouldn't normally see in real time.

yup i know. :) that was about two years ago when i first picked up a DSLR and only had my kit to shoot the fight. it's actually what got me hooked on sports. imagine having to shoot that fight with the 18-70 only. if i only had my 28-70 then... :)

Hey! Thanks, ruel! :) I tried doing the baseball shots at the College level. Medyo mahirap siya. Hahaha! Getting that "on-contact" moment (of the ball and the bat) is really quite hard at first. Semi-pro dslr's still have that split-second lag. :) My timing sucks too kaya nadagdagan pa yung degree of difficulty.

Hehehe..believe it or not actually in judo you can ( i think:) ) because its not distracting to the players since they're locked in comabt...there were others shooting also with flash...and they cant actually reprimand me for shooting i used to be part of the judo team for ateneo hehehehe....:Grin: and it wasn't really strict during matches unlike in basketball:)

Is this with your new 100-400L? What's the shutter and aperture of the shot? That's with the 400d, I presume.

BTW, the shot is very good!:) Caught it in the peak of the action! The 100-400L is very nice for soccer, base/softball, track & field, and birding.

Wanted to go there for your Cebu festivities, but too busy and have problems locally. Maybe next year?

kumusta? no, this was shot a few months back using my 20d and the 70-300is. i havent had the time to shoot with the 100-400is yet, parating umuulan dito sa Cebu. but with my initial testing indoors its definitely better than the 70-300is (dapat lang it cost more than twice than the 70-300is)... or maybe i'm just justifying my cost hehehe ...

@ taks: Thanks for the feedback. However, I just tried resizing the pic, and I reuploaded it to Photo.net.ph again. Wen I attached the link to my edited post, I still ended up with the big picture below. The original picture's resolution is down to about 800x600, so I'm not sure why it's still showing up as a very large image in my post.:Shock:
