dual metering? Do you mean you only want to metering options: cw and spot?

I'd like an ultracompact DSLR. something I can fit into my jacket pocket. smaller than the D40 or the Pentax plus pancake combo. even if they make the sensor, mirror and LCD smaller. 30mm diameter lenses.

A "true" rangefinder-like digital counterpart wherein I can use old rangefinder lenses with DSLR-like response is enough for me... None of the faux-Leica releases right now which are Panasonic rebrands...

I think he means he wants to use two metering modes at the same time. :Dum:

dual metering? i dont think that's even possible' to acheive a correct exposure(if there exists such a thing).. unless you really want to screw up your exposure for "artistic" purposes..

here's a start.. "mister meter" wants to keep everything mid-gray..
(that means a gray cat instead of black.. or grey snow instead of white)

feel free to add something...

dual metering? perfect exposure button na lang! the viewfinder reads your brain and snaps the photo you see in your head. why fuss about with the EV?

Ah ok... Because the term, "dual metering" was used by Canon T90's and Olympus SP's as a feature to say that they have 2 metering systems (cw and spot). :Dum:

auto-compose
- the shutter button would refuse to be pressed if your composition sucks. your camera would also drag you around to find the best spots.

auto-lighting
- automatically and magically transforms the scene to the optimal and best lighting condition.

auto-pp
- automatically apply the effect you want on your photos.. i.e. librodonized, draganized, davehillnized etc. can be updated via firmware upgrade to add more pp styles.

AUTO-PILOT mode
- composes scenes on its own, changes lenses on its own, goes to the service center on its own, meters on its own, mounts itself on a tripod on its own, PPs images on its own, and wins contests and tourneys on its own

I like this. It's like having uploadable photoshop actions in your camera. Something similar is done in electronic music, you load up a keyboard with the sounds and effects you want. Why not in cameras? Hehe.

If all these come true, prices of full manual cameras will soar even higher than today... hehehe.

OT:

maybe ill just settle on some "discontinued" stuff.. hehehe..
most people will forget the d300 2 years from now..

my friend just got a d100 for less than the price of my d40!(talk about cheap).. and his photos just got better than before.. hehehe..
