I tried using this feature on manual mode how come it's not working but when i set it to aperture priority or shutter priority it's working, am I missing something here???? please help

View Full Version : AEL on manual mode in e500 Elvin de Guzman 09-19-2006, 09:00 PM I tried using this feature on manual mode how come it's not working but when i set it to aperture priority or shutter priority it's working, am I missing something here???? please help Norman_P._Aquino 09-19-2006, 09:52 PM If by manual mode you mean manual exposure and your AEL button is configured to lock exposure, there is no need for it because your exposure is already locked to the aperture and shutter speed you have chosen in manual mode. =B) AEL is used to lock exposure that the CAMERA has determined for you (auto exposure). Once you press that button, the aperture and shutter will not change even if you point the camera to a different scene. It is not needed in manual mode since as pointed out above, the aperture and shutter have been fixed by YOU. If your AEL button is configured to lock focus, you can still use it with manual exposure mode, though. P.S. Do read the manual. You will learn a lot from it. =B) Regards, Norman JonDexterTan 09-19-2006, 09:53 PM hi elvin! it's not suppose to work in manual mode and only in A S and P modes. why? coz in M mode, you can manually control the Exposure yourself using Aperture and Shutter Speed settings :D no need to lock on the AE. :D just point the cam where you would usually use AEL in A and S settings, adjust both your Shutter and Aperture to get your desired exposure, then recompose. you would notice the exposure reading would be off, don'T worry, it'S normal since your exposure was locked when you adjusted it before.
