zandy_marantal 09-16-2006, 02:01 AM Congratulations Dave!
Now you will know what it feels like to have in your hands the power of superior ergonomics :)
regards.
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 02:12 AM Thanks Zandy. Yes, it does feel comfy alright. Can't power it up yet though since the battery was drained by my photo friends earlier this evening. I let them have first crack at it.
Marton_Benitez 09-16-2006, 02:13 AM Oohhh! D80! Congrats!
Eric Dino 09-16-2006, 02:25 AM Dave,
Probably a Switcher, Decoy, Spy or Attention Deficiency Syndrome. It's your choice. By the way, you can try powering it up by using the enclosed power cord in the box. Hope this is the real thing. Congratulations Jedi, Happy Shooting and Do read the instruction manual since it's different from your Canon Saber. :-).
nap_alcedo 09-16-2006, 03:44 AM Ang lakas ng influence sa yo ng kapatid mo Dave. I can understand. He is very passionate with the Dark side. Congrats and hope to see you one of these days in the Nikon EBs. Now I see the early results of the efforts of Anderson Tan.
orlando_arcelao_jr 09-16-2006, 03:45 AM Congratulations, our new sith apprentice! Hmmm... the force is strong with you Dave... I can sense it... Could you be the chosen one that brings balance to the force? A sith lord in the making? :D
May the force always be with you! Enjoy your new toy! :)

Rolando Avecilla 09-16-2006, 10:10 AM Training, forbidden it is!
Too much fear, I sense with him.
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to suffering... suffering leads to the DARK SIDE. :D
Mark_Tiangco 09-16-2006, 10:38 AM If you will take that path do it with conviction and throw all your canon gear away. I have a garbage bag here, dito mo na itapon! :) :) :)
Raffy Crucillo 09-16-2006, 10:43 AM ...wow... Your new lightsaber is so cool.
ditoy_aguila 09-16-2006, 10:58 AM Hehehe let us, Canon users, know your experience ha!
lestercallanta 09-16-2006, 10:59 AM Goes to show in photography, you can't be too brand specific :)
But in computing, it's another matter. Right Dave? :)
BTW, looks like you've found your 2nd camera body already. Congrats Dave!
Sonny Thakur 09-16-2006, 11:01 AM If you will take that path do it with conviction and throw all your canon gear away. I have a garbage bag here, dito mo na itapon! :) :) :)

That didn't come from our base since our units haven't arrived yet. This is the only thing I have to complain about Nikon HK. I'm always behind in allocation compared to other countries since my volume cannot match USA or Europe. We are ordering more quantity now though. I hope in the near future we will be prioritized more as we increase purchase volume.
However, thanks for joining the dark side. You are now a Sith Lord...
Say hi to Taj for me. :)
Aris Guerrero 09-16-2006, 01:32 PM congrats dave!!! that one was fast. i also asked about body only option. that's why you haven't posted again, busy pala. hehehe
nap_alcedo 09-16-2006, 01:48 PM Looks like Dave is really very busy adapting to the Dark Side. While you are at it, maybe we can see a first hand review from you, since you are among one of the few who has one now...Go Dave...
JonDexterTan 09-16-2006, 02:57 PM hey dave! congrats! you'll love nikon as much as you're loving canon fo' sho'! :D wish I didn't unload my nikon gear along the way! haha! oh welps! let me know if it's time na ha? my 2 30Ds are still naked! hehe!
jake_borres 09-16-2006, 03:21 PM The Dark Side of the Force is Strong within you Dave...Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Sith

I will sir. Thanks very much for the welcome.
I consider myself the worst shopper because I have reached a level of financial means that I really don't care too much whether it's gray or not. My 30D is also gray market (first in Manila to buy one).
Both items (D80 & 18-200 VR) are in high demand and short supply so when the opportunity presented itself I took it. I guess you know the business a lot more but I do know a lot of like minded impulse buyers who would pay extra just to get one so I suggest just to get these items even if one has to pay COD.
Loving the product so far.
I'm done with the first set.

Notes:
Since I am a Nikon newbie, nearly all of these were shot at FULL AUTOMATIC.
Some were shot by me, some were shot by my eldest son. NO POST PROCESSING WHATSOEVER.
willy_palacios 09-16-2006, 07:15 PM now if we could just see some sample cut's from your new Dark Saber :)
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 07:29 PM Your wish is my command.
Gerardo Sabado 09-16-2006, 07:38 PM From the thumbnails, the colors are beautiful. Congrats and welcome.
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 07:47 PM From the thumbnails, the colors are beautiful. Congrats and welcome.
Yes I noticed that too...
Makes me wonder if I should leave it on Full Auto :D
I've been getting requests to test the new 18-135 kit lens so I'll try to accomodate your request.

those shots where straight out of the cam? all seem to be OK except for the single flower that seemed OOF. will you care to post the same set but this time with PP? are shots taken at 10mp setting?
thanks for sharing there
orlando_arcelao_jr 09-16-2006, 07:50 PM Color Mode IIIa really produces vibrant and saturated colors especially the reds and the greens! I think it is the default color mode for the D50/D80... :)
Nice shots dave! More samples! :)
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 07:59 PM those shots where straight out of the cam? all seem to be OK except for the single flower that seemed OOF. will you care to post the same set but this time with PP? are shots taken at 10mp setting?

Yes, there's noticable CA too.. but who cares? I LOVE the colors! I will never compare a walkaround to any of my L glass, it's just not fair. But I was amazed that I was taking a landscape shot then saw a plane flying overhead and captured it too within a couple of seconds. Gotta love that!
Yes, all the shots are set to the highest JPEG quality (Large & Fine) which means 10MP.
willy_palacios 09-16-2006, 08:41 PM cool! will be waiting for those shots you processed through PS CS, i'll be you can get more dynamic range after post processinmg some of the shots. care to try an HDR shot?
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 08:59 PM Hu hu hu you're killing me here... Ok.. I'll put that on my to do list.
kaihuang 09-16-2006, 09:39 PM nice colors from the d80 :)
bakit tayo na sa darkside just because we use nikon? di naman tayo kawawa ah :P
Aris Guerrero 09-16-2006, 09:51 PM nice colors dave! partida pa yan, no PP! gotta test an 18-200VR... :)
lestercallanta 09-16-2006, 10:36 PM Dave, short request from a Canon user. How about 100% crops from 28-70 against your L lens :) Or 18-22 from your EF-S :)
paul borromeo 09-16-2006, 10:48 PM WELCOME Dave! the dark side is much cooler. he he
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 10:50 PM I don't have access to that kinda gear. I'll let the more experienced Nikon users do it. Maybe during the next "meeting" we can ask TJ to do the tests with his glass and my DSLR body.
lestercallanta 09-16-2006, 11:09 PM Oh sorry. I thought you still had your 28-70L.
dave_deluria 09-16-2006, 11:39 PM I do still have it. It's just that I don't think it's fair to compare a superzoom vs a 28-70 F2.8 L glass.
Unless you meant I take 28-70mm shots using the same aperture as the 18-200's equivalent aperture setting. I still think it will be unfair.
During my early posts here in DPP, I started the Canon wishlist. I put there what I wanted and in that list is a better consumer zoom to rival the 18-200 VR. Well, I saw the latest releases and although they were nice and all, Canon still neglected the glaring gap between it's kit lenses versus other brands (including Sony).
By introducing a 400D with a EFS 18-55, it's just begging the Canon users to buy another lens. Nikon with it's 18-70 & now the 18-135 kit lenses offer superior value as the owners don't feel the pressure to accumulate glass if they don't want to.
jay jallorina 09-17-2006, 12:08 AM congrats dave! asteeg naman!
you do of course remember that story of a certain jedi...
from his youngling days he was perceived to be on a different level than the rest of the jedi...his midicholorian count surpassed that of master yoda. he went on to become the greatest jedi of his era only to succumb to the dark side and be the dark lord of the sith that was his calling....
he crushed a few throats, yeah...t'was cool...but he donned a hideous gas mask for props!
but in the end...didn't he like...return to the light???
will that be your path also? hehehe.
satire lang yan ha. congrats, and do let us know how it compares with the 30D saber...
jay jallorina 09-17-2006, 12:11 AM kung kit lens lang, panalo talaga ang nikon! if im buying a d200, it would be because i need a camera with excellent weather sealing for my mountain escapades AND MORE IMPORTANTLY for that 18-200 VR! wish ko lang may ganyan din ang canon.
excuse me, canon, are you like, listening???
chewychua 09-17-2006, 12:30 AM excellent samples dave! i love the vibrancy of the D80! reminds me of my D50 before.
zandy_marantal 09-17-2006, 02:06 AM @Dave
Now that you own both systems, can you compare how each brand handles color when it comes to flesh tones?
I've read numerous accounts that Canon colors aren't life-like compared to Nikon (this they say is a trade off of Canon's excellent high-ISO performance). The usual term they use is that it looks "plasticky".
Can you confirm or deny this?
Thanks.
Nick_Espino 09-17-2006, 02:23 AM bakit tayo na sa darkside just because we use nikon? di naman tayo kawawa ah :P
I think it had something to do with not being "masa".
Giovanni de la Cruz 09-17-2006, 02:36 AM Wow! Congrats on the purchase. Especially with the 18-200 vr. On my recent trip to vegas, I really wished I had an 18-200 vr lens. Unfortunately, they're practically nonexistent here in the US.
lestercallanta 09-17-2006, 03:14 AM Unless you meant I take 28-70mm shots using the same aperture as the 18-200's equivalent aperture setting. I still think it will be unfair.
Yup, that's the one I meant. But its cool, the 18-200 is an engineering masterpiece in itself. And at the right price. Who knows? Might get a Nikon too as my second body :)
vernes_go 09-17-2006, 04:09 AM i think i need to switch to Full Auto :D nice colors!!! :)
eric_javier 09-17-2006, 07:38 AM Nice Shots Dave, and the color is Very NICE I Like it.
I think it had something to do with not being "masa".
I think because nikon only makes "Black" Camera Body & Lenses, While Canon makes White Lens. That's why, they call us the "Dark Side". I'm Very happy with that.
Next is, the Dark Side are Only Few, but they are the BRAVE!!!!!.
To all Nikonians:) , I just notice that OUR THREAD are much more FUN (opps No offense to the other Side).
Peace

Earl Gonzalez 09-17-2006, 08:37 AM FYI... there are white Nikon lenses.
Yup yup! True True! I have 2 of the rare ones... a white 28-70 and 70-200 VR. :)
eric_javier 09-17-2006, 12:59 PM FYI... there are white Nikon lenses.
Opps Sorry Nick, I never seen one yet, maybe they are collectors item now:) ..Thanks for the Info...
John P. Reyes 09-17-2006, 02:19 PM Dave, Dave, Dave. :) Just a few months ago, Canon na Canon ka when we were talking. Welcome and nice rig.
jerome pagunsan 09-17-2006, 02:29 PM Opps Sorry Nick, I never seen one yet, maybe they are collectors item now:) ..Thanks for the Info...
Earl is right, it exist. As far as i know the white ones are exclusive for Japanese Market. For some reason it appears on the shelves of Nikon dealears here in the Middle East. I was in Bahrain a month ago in Nikon store when one photographer came i think he is european, checkout the white lens and he told me he never saw one like this. With no further question he grab his credit card. And for me  "hanggang tinging na lang ako... tulo laway" wla pang budget.)

Jerome, actually they're turning to "collector's" already... I guess I'll hold unto what I have for a very long time. :)
jerome pagunsan 09-17-2006, 03:21 PM OIC, I hope they are still producing it. There is one left in the store here. Thanks Earl.
kaihuang 09-17-2006, 03:30 PM i think they are "grey" not white.. gives better heat rejections daw than black bodies.
jerome pagunsan 09-17-2006, 03:33 PM Yes they are grey..... but most people called it white lens not grey lens. :)
dave_deluria 09-17-2006, 03:38 PM For the curious. Here's a couple of images comparing the 18-200 & 18-135. EXIF for both is nearly identical. Just click the images to see the large versions.

Uh huh. My Canon is still here and there's still some things I can do with it better. That's the point I guess. You can't have it all whatever gear you have. The right tool for the right job.
Daniel Tan 09-17-2006, 08:48 PM welcome to the club dave. im also tempted to get one.... but trying to control myself.... heheheh
kaihuang 09-18-2006, 12:03 AM kuha na dan.. you know you want to :D
Alden Arellano 09-18-2006, 05:09 AM Guys,
I am new to the idea but why are Nikon users on the Dark Side?
Anyways, using my D70 never made me the meanest Sith lord of all time.
This event did: http://jaoa.multiply.com/photos/album/4
Taken July last year, another one coming this September :D :D :D
Earl Gonzalez 09-18-2006, 07:31 AM Guys,
I am new to the idea but why are Nikon users on the Dark Side?
Hi Alden, the heresy was created when people started noticing Canon's White L lenses predominant in shear number; but little do they know that we also have our own... Well not that much but it's enough to dessimate everything in its path! :D
Daniel Tan 09-18-2006, 08:38 AM kuha na dan.. you know you want to :D
Hi Kai.
tignan natin. ipon muna ako... im still thinking..... 2nd hand d70, bnew d80 or d200 ulit. hmmmm hirap magisip.. im just figuring out what i really need rather than what i want.
Anton Sheker 09-20-2006, 08:47 AM dan,
what you need is to sell all your gear and get one of those D2x on sale floating around the market :) nothing beats having a professional body for peace of mind... only problem is once you get it... it will be hard to turn back ang get anything less :)

SB-800 na lang!
atsaka 12-24,
extra battery,
new strap,
60mm micro
85 mm
and NAS goes on and on and on.....
walang magawa s pera si dave e. heheheheh:Grin:
dave_deluria 09-20-2006, 09:47 AM Dodie intrigero ka talaga!
My yougner brother has Nikon lenses up the wazoo so I will borrow his. After seeing the EF 50mm F1.2 L in action last night. I have an idea what I want to try next. Wala nun sa Nikon that's why I am going to stay with both setups even though I agree it is a bit crazy.
roy_delacruz 09-20-2006, 10:25 AM It's not crazy Dave...different tools for different applications.. :)
Best of both worlds!!!
:D
Niko Villegas 09-20-2006, 10:26 AM mahirap yan pero kung kaya mong tustusan ok lang . . . hehehe but again welcome to the Dark Side, like one photographer said, we are not common, we are a rare breed . . . :)
pio sugay 09-20-2006, 11:50 AM D80 is very tempting indeed. i'll wait for Mr. Andersons launch first, then decide.
how in the world did canon price their new 400D at 45k? sweet for canon users :)

i think its true... but i dont really see any point of spending twice the value of my current d200... unless a great deal comes up.
Feature wise d200 is just enough for my work anything more than that is really not practical. I guess I'm just looking for another cam equal to d200 or smaller n lighter than d200 so i can put a dedicated lens on the body.

if canon is priced at 45k im sure a d80 wud cost around 40-43k... heheheh wishfull thinking
kaihuang 09-20-2006, 01:58 PM dan, d200 ka na lang.. overkill yun d2x sa work mo.. dv cam na ata kailangan mo next :P
if 400d is 45k, then kawawa mga bumili ng earlier models.. mababa na re-sale value ng mga cams nila now..

That's just the way it is I'm afraid. :(
Just as with any other electronic equipment, camera bodies depreciate quickly. For example, the D2x , which retailed for $5k not too long ago, can now be had for $3500 new and around $2,700 used (< 10k clicks). Same with other bodies regardless of brand.
Personally, I'm still waiting for the D2hs, to come down to below $1800. :)
The good news for us is that glass tends to retain more of its value since it takes manufacturers years to replace them with newer models. E.g., the 28-70mm f/2.8, aka "the beast" was introduced way back Feb 99 (almost 8 years ago!) but it still commands the same high price.
regards.

Agree ako dito! But Zandy if the price of the D2Hs falls down below $1800... I'm sure probably the D2Xs will also be alot cheaper already by that time... Dun ka nalang! :)

I just got one recently and it's great. Auto white balance is better on the D200, though.

You know when that D2Xs came out... Medyo nakakainis lang ng kaunti for us D2X owners... Specially the first batch... But while I was thinking about it and deliberating whether I should get one and make my current X as back-up... I paused and thought it over... Kaya naman ng firmware upgrade yung additional features, plus makakabili naman ako ng cropped focusing screen if I really do need one--so never mind. :D So I guess I'll wait things out... Hintayin ko nalang yung D3X and that would automatically make my current cam as back-up... These are difficult times... Medyo kailangan magtipid at pagkasyahin ang maliit na kumot... I'll make my current gear pay over itself a couple of times more before reinvesting again...
Daniel Tan 09-21-2006, 09:21 AM I just got one recently and it's great. Auto white balance is better on the D200, though.
Congrats!
i know the d2xs is an improved d2x in terms of WB and focusing and other features. kaya alanganin ako sa d2x.
So hows ur new cam? wer did u get it?
John P. Reyes 09-21-2006, 09:27 AM Congrats!

Ordered it thru a friend. Im happy with everything except auto white balance. It also has a tendency to over-expose. Focusing is SUPER FAST. HSC mode is great. 8fps at almost 7mp.

well yun nga eh.... technology improves and changes every 3 months. That's how fast you should get ur ROI to be on top of the race and have always the latest gears. As you've said times are hard... kaya i'm also thinking very hard what to buy that I can use it in a very practical way. Kung nasira I can always get a cheap replacement.
baka lens nalang bilhin ko.... 200mm VR f2? 200-400mm VR f4?
Wishful thinking....... sana maglabas din Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 with VR or a Nikon 100-300mm f2.8 VR:Grin: yan sigurado kukuha ako

Notes:
Since I am a Nikon newbie, nearly all of these were shot at FULL AUTOMATIC.
Some were shot by me, some were shot by my eldest son. NO POST PROCESSING WHATSOEVER.
I find myself teetering in between.
But these sample shots might just push me over completely to the dark side.
hehehe :D
Thank you very much Dave. Much appreciated.

Paging Mr Anderson (Tan) does Columbia Digital sell the D80 units or do you distribute only to resellers?
:Scared: Am I allowed to ask that question?

dave_deluria 09-21-2006, 11:52 AM Is she holding the remote for the shutter?

Thanks Dave. It was just a piece of glass she found at the park.
I'll try your B&W suggestion.
regards.
dave_deluria 09-21-2006, 12:06 PM Don't forget to play with channel mixers to see the effects like using a red, green or blue filter when you convert it. You can also add a pinch of noise as well (yes noise) similar to real B&W film to add that finishing punch.
zandy_marantal 09-21-2006, 12:13 PM Nakakainggit naman,Tulo laway ko Ah ang Talim ng Lens mo:Grin:
Yep. Super talas nga.:) I did some comparison tests with it against the 70-200mm VR over the weekend and the results were an eye opener. The lens is sharper wide open than the 70-200mm at any aperture! (the sharpest setting for the 70-200 was @f/5.6)
Let me know if somebody wants to take a look at the results. I can send you links to the full resolution images. Baka mina-malikmata lang ako
Regards.
Aris Guerrero 09-21-2006, 01:14 PM zandy, post mo na lang in another thread! love your 200/2 images.

I say start a new thread on the 200 f2 :)
zandy_marantal 09-21-2006, 10:44 PM will 200mm f2 be much sharper than this kaya? ;)
Those look good Daniel!
I noticed that the shots were taken at ISO 800. I generally don't use anything above ISO 400 because the D200 doesn't handle noise very well. Have you tried printing those with sizes 8x10 or larger? Maybe I'm just worrying too much.
regards.
chewychua 09-22-2006, 12:05 AM isn't this thread for dave's impressions of the D80? :)
dave_deluria 09-22-2006, 12:35 AM It's ok Chewy...
I already met some DPPers this evening and I let them play with it. I actually shot tonight using both 30D and D80 so I'm looking at the output.
So far so good. Noise performance of the D80 is at par with the 30D up to ISO800. It's the colors that really set the Nikon apart. As a test, I also used the Canon's picture styles feature to at least see if there will be some difference as oppossed to post processing them.
I did show the new In camera editing features which is a first on Nikon DSLRs on the D80 and it sure turned a some heads. This thing has an edge for on-the-spot photo contests where I can crop, apply filter effects and change white balance "in-camera" without the need for a computer.
Fun fun fun!
Earl Gonzalez 09-22-2006, 05:23 AM ... Anyway, Dave congrats again on your new toy! :)
Yup... It's all about the fun of it! Cheers and Happy shooting! :D
John P. Reyes 09-22-2006, 06:36 PM Dave: How's the auto white balance on the 80? Congratulations, by the way.:)
dave_deluria 09-22-2006, 08:04 PM I've been using Auto White Balance but I don't have anything to compare it to yet so I can't answer your queries about it. What do you wanna know?
chewychua 09-24-2006, 12:11 AM hey dave, i found a review of the D80 from dpreview.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond80/
as expected, it got a "highly recommended" grade :)
the reviewer's complaint? it's $200 more expensive than the 400D
john_villavicencio 09-24-2006, 12:14 AM i've just followed dave's footsteps... i must say... should have done this sooner
dave_deluria 09-24-2006, 12:26 AM But when you follow, you outdid me in a big way!

John P. Reyes 09-24-2006, 08:28 PM The images I posted in flickr were all shot AWB. Color mode IIIa
Ah. Ok thanks. :)
john_villavicencio 09-24-2006, 09:30 PM The images I posted in flickr were all shot AWB. Color mode IIIa
dave how do you get that color mode?
dave_deluria 09-24-2006, 10:16 PM That's the default...
In the Shooting Menu, I select OPTIMIZE IMAGE and you have choices from Normal, Vivid, More Vivid etc... it's kinda like the Nikon equivalent of Picture Styles.
dindin_lagdameo 09-24-2006, 10:35 PM @dave
whichi OPTIMIZE IMAGE did you choose? I use VIVID...
dave_deluria 09-24-2006, 11:00 PM For the ones in this thread.. it's Normal.
I've been playing around with VIVID and the otehr stuff but maybe somebody can shed more light on which ones they like for which situation.
john_villavicencio 09-24-2006, 11:12 PM so far i've used normal and more vivid and vivid...
orlando_arcelao_jr 09-25-2006, 12:08 AM Hey dave, you can check out http://www.nikondigital.com (http://www.nikondigital.com/). Go to D50's page and then click on the Digitutor then select Image Optimization on the menu. This will play a movie which gives you a brief explanation on the different Image Optimization settings. :)
Just a quick overview on the color modes...
Color Mode III/IIIa produces vibrant and saturated colors especially the reds and the greens. It is the default color mode for the D50/D80. Best used on landscapes, macro or any other outdoor and nature shots.
Color Mode II is the equivalent of Adobe RGB color space which produces flat and dull colors but preserves a wide gamut of colors which could be an advantage if you want to post-process your image.
Color Mode I/Ia produces a toned down version of III/IIIa which yields better skin tone.Best used on portraits.
Hope that helps! :)
dave_deluria 09-25-2006, 12:17 AM Thank you very much... checking it now.
Melvin Vivas 10-04-2006, 08:39 PM Got your attention didn't it!

Wow! Ganda ng pic! Taken by a Canon? hahahaha :D
dave_deluria 10-04-2006, 08:53 PM Yes.... one of my last sa 30D ;)
But it won't be my last Canon shot for sure.
I'm so fickle about my own gear you can count on me lining up to look at the next FF Canon body.

sir dave, if i'm not mistaken, you mentioned before about skin tone not being acurate. i suspect it is the color mode posted above. try using custom and switching to Mode I.
i think the D50 and D80 default has punchier colors, but may be too much for some skin tone conditions. more reviews please :)
fidel_mercado 10-13-2006, 11:04 PM For all those who switched from Canon to Nikon, how easy was it to adjust to the new interface and controls? A day or two of practice? :)

sandro_mendoza 10-14-2006, 03:56 AM Guys,
I am new to the idea but why are Nikon users on the Dark Side?
Anyways, using my D70 never made me the meanest Sith lord of all time.
In nikonians.com, the nikonians who are tempted to go kwanon (that's how they spell it there), are the ones who are considered being lured to the dark side. I was a bit confused to learn that it's the other way around here in DPP.
emer.tioco 10-14-2006, 04:07 AM 1 week to go, i can relate with dave having d80.. whew!!!

fidel_mercado 10-14-2006, 04:38 AM Oh okay, thanks for the info John, thought it would take longer.
Marton, Earl, Orlando are pushing me to the edge.
Haha, I've been tinkering with a D200 lately in a local camera store here.... sure feels good and works well too. Love the easy access to the essential controls like autofocus modes, burst modes and the two wheels. :D Will have to sell all my Canon stuff first and save though. In time, in due time.

Yeah, it is calling indeed. And come to think of it, I don't see it as dark. It's bright and sunny over there too. I'll let you guys know once my 350D has found another owner sometime next year. :)

I'll give you a better suggestion... Start saving for a new body now while you're waiting for a buyer for your existing one... If you plan to sell; do it fast coz the price of your system now will definitely be different next year. :)
fidel_mercado 10-14-2006, 12:06 PM Thanks Earl, I was looking at prices a while ago and boy, they have dropped like a rock. :D Hahaha, in time, in time.

you wont experience that once you go to the other side... the price of nikon stuff is pretty stable :)

Precisely where I'm getting at... It's like Canons are BMWs vs. Nikon Benzs... :D hahahahaha
ronaldoruga 11-29-2006, 03:46 PM Now I know what it is to be on the dark side (ex-oly user)...
Got me a D50 with 18-70mm kit for a start..

Darryl Ong 11-29-2006, 04:26 PM really want to give up my cam and go to the dark side:) but i have bought a canon75-300, canon 50 1.8 already:( for my 350d:(
my christmas wishlist is a nikond70s ( d80  if budget permits ) and a nikon 18-200 VR

Alan Fontanilla 11-29-2006, 04:36 PM Precisely where I'm getting at... It's like Canons are BMWs vs. Nikon Benzs... :D hahahahaha
NAKU - the battle of the brands ... hmmm ... i find the BMWs better in terms of design than Benzs though ...though I wouldnt mind being given a Benz - hahahaha.
Darryl Ong 11-29-2006, 04:38 PM ei i'm not starting a war here,, just honestly think that nikon is right for me,,, btw,, a member of photoworld manila posted on our yahoo group selling his d70s for 31k? i don't know the guy,, but do you think this is a good price,,
he don't know the actuation of the cam
Jerry Sagmaquen 11-29-2006, 04:42 PM therat, ako yun! hahaha
ronaldoruga 11-29-2006, 05:08 PM Congrats on the purchase! Welcome to the Dark Side! :)
Thanks Rosalie for the warm welcome...now am craving for the 50 1.8 and 80-200 2.8.
The force is really strong on the dark side.
rosalie_gomez 11-29-2006, 05:42 PM Precisely where I'm getting at... It's like Canons are BMWs vs. Nikon Benzs... :D hahahahaha
Hahaha! Similar to what someone I know said... Nikon is like a European car while Canon is like a Japanese car (comparing my then D70 and his 350D). :D
Alan Fontanilla 11-29-2006, 06:03 PM Naku ... battle of the brands. Canon vs. Nikon ba? Hehehe ... European cars vs. Japanese cars? I drive a european car .. hahaa .. and I have a Canon. Hmmm I wonder what does that make me? A hybrid?
I think whatever makes one happy should be the answer to this age old question of who/what is better. I remember seeing a line or two here before that its not about equipment but talent and an eye for photography :> Just making up for the fact that I'm a Canon 350d user :> Hehehehe ..
Milton Ching 11-29-2006, 06:19 PM Hehe, Ako rin nag-switch... I own a "jedi" p&s, and an entry level nikon dlsr... for me it was the look and feel of the images and the built of the body... lalo na at mahilig ako dati magbasa ng national geographic. dahil sa texture ng output ng nikon, that is why I went with nikon. Pero, still I have no plans of chugging my "other" cam.
Jerome Katigbak 09-07-2007, 06:29 AM so, what does that make me? i was born into this side! hehe!
